Does it matter which side you get an ear/cartilage piercing on?

Nope but I recommend getting t on the same side as your part so it's easier to show off

Do you mean a difference in social meaning of where your piercing is placed? My advice is to follow your heart! I'm also having trouble deciding which side to pierce my nose... I guess I'll just decide on the spot!

Get both! but not at the same time. You need one side to sleep on.

I was going to get both haha so I wouldn't have to decide. definitely not both at once lol. @jacqlyn really? I work at icing and we pierce with guns... that's where I was going to get mine done.

Jacqlyn, I had a similar situation 6 years ago; I got my earlobes pierced with a gun, and ended up deciding not to keep the piercing open (I'm just going to get cartilage done instead) and even to this day I have scars on my ears from it :( I'm not sure if this is because they used a piercing gun, or maybe because of the extra tissue

*That is there because of the piercing.

I got my cartilage pierced with a gun! It was fine! My doctor said that you are going to get a scar even if you use a needle.

Don't get any piercings with a gun it's not sanitary and it damages the area. Always go to a professional clean piercer who uses needles.

& no it doesn't matter what side you get it on. Just personal choice (: I'm getting mine done for my birthday I'm excited.

Scars have nothing to do with why you'd be pierced with a gun or needle; using a gun is unsanitary compared to the needles piercers use and make the healing process a lot longer then it needs to be in most cases. They pierce you with the blunt jewelry when they use a gun, which like Jacqlyn said will just shatter the area, it won't be a clean piercing to begin with and if one ever wanted to stretch their ears after being pierced by a gun, it'd make that more difficult also. Needles are just the way to go haha :)

I got mine with a gun.. And it was fine it just a matter of looking after it, and how your body heals it

I got mine with a gun and hardly ever tell anyone because they're always like "that's sooo bad!" But I agree with Jaclyn. Maybe look into someplace else that uses a needle instead. I've had mine for 3 years now and there's a permanent bump on the back of the piercing and it still randomly hurts when it gets even lightly bumped or if I sleep on it too heavily. It is annoying, and I take very good care of it. Getting extra long posts on the piercing earring helped too to clean it. I would get it on whatever side you think you wouldn't rather sleep on. I've seen them on both sides, so I don't really think there's a major preference for most people.
