You need to start off with the lightest colour all over the lid then take a slightly darker one and place it on the outer half of your eye. Take a darker one again and put that through the crease then with the darkest shade place on the outer V of your eye. Make sure you blend! That is the main thing to get it looking good just keep blending! If your going for a smokey eye I would recommend a nude or very pale pink lip you don't want to go with a bright lip if you have a lot going on on your eyes. Hope this helps

This is a smokey eye. And I'm sure I can find a better picture. There is so much confusion on the "actual" smokey eye is, which means darkest color all over lid (I like using Nyx Jumbo eyeliners all over lid w/ (primer underneath), and then black eyeshadow blended over, then a lighter color above and then an even lighter color above. What Tiggs explained was actually more of a gradient and not a smokey eye look. And believe me, I had no clue what an actual smokey eye was until beautylish.
