I rinse first and do leave in or I do a spray leave in before I think it helps.

I had to put conditioner in my hair and I still have it in so my ends don't split since I just got them trimmed about 2 weeks ago.

What I do is mix coconut oil and conditioner and leave it in my hair for about 30 minutes then rinse it out and then my comn goes through my hair so smoothly. it may not work because I am half african American.

I used to have the same problem. My hair would get so knotted it would take days for my mother to comb the knots out. I literally tried everything, potions, conditioners, swim caps, every product under the sun. What ended up working is soaking my hair with water before swimming while my hair was in a braid. Then afterward we would rinse the hair again and let it dry. Sometimes the braid would swell up but most of the time it was fine. Wash it with the braid in for the first round of shampoo then take the braid out for the second shampoo. I would also advise using a mask or leave in conditioner.
