You can try smoothing serums and keeping it healthy and moisturized while you're growing it out. (:

I use Argan oil in my hair and that smooths it out well. I've also heard people using coconut oil and olive oil to moisturize their hair.

I agree. Find yourself a good leave in conditioner and a serum or oil and just stick it out. Get shape ups when it gets too funky and just wait it out. I've done it a couple times and I know there can be awkward grow stages.
