I feel your frustration, it takes practice and lots of it to curl with a flat iron, but when I was first learning, it helped me to watch videos while doing it on myself.... Once you've learned how to make those perfect ringlet curls, you almost hate ever using a curling iron again :) good luck, dear!

A big problem a lot of people have when curling their hair with a flat iron is exactly because they flat iron it first. Using the heat to flat iron your hair temporarily changes the chemical style if your hair which is how it straightens. Turning around and curling it can become difficult. I would recommend flat ironing your hair at a kiere temp, low enough to get any unwanted curls out, and then come back around and curl it. Also, using small 1 inch or half inch sections. Food Luck!

I never straighten my hair before curling it and naturally I have ringlets. I will blowdry it out and then let the hair cool.down before I curl.it with a flat iron, its very important that you give your hair time to.cool between heat applications. and practice lots :) once you get it you will never go back to a curling iron
