I seriously can't afford any heat protectant products but I really need to curl my hair in a few days! Are there any tricks I can use to prevent frazzled or split ends after heating?

The best thing to do would be to make sure that your hair is sufficiently hydrated. use a deep conditioner, or leave your conditioner on for longer than normal. in addition, let your hair air dry instead of using a hairdryer. a hairdryer without heat protector will boil the water in your hair. let it dry completely before going at it with any styling tools.

Thank you, I'll try the conditioner thing (as I never blow dry anyway) c:

Yeah no problem =) make sure you rinse it all out, though, because if you don't your hair could get greasy.

Headband curls work really well for me but you might want to try it a few days in advance to make sure you like how it looks.
