I have a red scar left behind from a scab I picked off (I learned my lesson not to pick scabs!), and I've been using Mederma on it but I'm not sure if that's the kind of scar it works on. I've heard vitamin e works but I already have the Mederma and if possible I want to use what I already have. Thanks in advance. :)

You can use it, there's also no research that vitamin e is actually beneficial to help scarring. The trick is to keep the scar heavily moisturized, and make sure to seal in moisture with an oil, when it's fully healed, make sure to exfoliate too. There's actually great research on silicon being the best option for fading scars over time, even keloids.

Mederma is more for sergical scars or deep cuts. I had a Pitt bull once and he bit my face, had a scar on my nose and upper lip. you can barley even see it now thanks to mederma. not so sure about scab scars. maybe try lemon juice and apple cider vinigar, I use it to lighten scars and acne. cheap and organic!
