Cleansers wise I would steer you toward milks/blams/gels. Basically cleansers that don't foam or foams very little. For a cleanser to foam a lot it has to have a high ph (above 8). Your skins normal ph is about 4.5-5.5 and at this ph it has an acid mantle that protects the skin from bacteria and viruses. If you use products with a high ph it temporarily destroys the acid mantle. As you can imagine when you have problem skin with lots of bacteria filled acne destroy the acid mantle is not a good idea.

As for exfoliators stay away from anything with fruit kernels/shells. They are very harsh. Look for products with micro beads as they are a lot more gentle. If you want to do a diy scrub choose something like sugar or aspirin. Don't use bicarbonate of soda, even though as an exfoliator it's very gentle it has a high ph of 8 so is bad for the skin.
You could also look into chemical exfoliation. It uses an acid for acne usually salicylic in 1%-2% or glycolic in 5%-10 is recomended.
