What you need to do is apply bleach, and toner. then get a purple based shampoo to cancel out any brassy tones. if you don't think you need bleach, apply a low strength. if your hair is yellow and orange apply a higher strength. then finish with a healing mask and avoid heat for about a week.

Bleach your hair avoiding the roots, focus on the darker colours first and the rest of your hair last, when I was trying to tone brassy colours out of my hair I'd leave toning shampoo on dry hair for as long as 2 hours if I felt it needed it, it does make a huge difference to the colour and in my opinion works better than normal toners.
