Have you considered a professional hair straightening? I chopped off 10 inches of my hair two weeks ago cuz I was bored of it, poofed up so bad on me! I got them professionally done and my nerves have been calmer.

Also there are some semi-permanent at home straightening systems that keep hair straight for some washes, you could try that.
