So I dyed my hair with ion cream color & Clairol 10 developer. Dyed it a dark red. Came out beautiful, but now-after one wash, you can see my brown roots. Did I not leave it on my roots long enough? Wrong # developer? This is the 1st time I've mixed it myself. Usually do a box

Ya my hair was on its 3rd or 4th day, so not clean & it was permanent ion brand dye. Thanks. I'm going to wait a week or so & do the roots again.

Landry, ya was wondering about that. The girl @ sallys suggested 10. My hair is the red I like just wanted to touch up the roots, roots growing out medium brown. I have very fine, thin hair.

My suggestion would be to redo with lightly shampooed dry hair again. Depending on how dirty or how much product you use, 10 vol. is not real strong. Mainly used for deposit only, no lift. 20 vol. will lift then deposit, if you would use this you could risk "hot roots"! Try 10vol. On clean dry hair. (17yrs as a cosmetologist)

Ok thanks very much Catherine & Cali. Ya I had blonde, but that was dyed over professionally in Sept. We shall see what happens. Gonna re-dye next week.
