By dabbing toothpaste on my zits overnight, it will get rid of then right? Or at least help it?

Don't use gel toothpaste though. It might work it might sting if it has too many chemicals in it. If you do, just dab on a tiny bit. I believe this tip was started because toothpaste used to have baking soda in it, which helps dry out pimples. I would suggest making a paste of baking soda and water and applying a little of that to your face. For both of these things, don't use on your whole face, just as spot treatments :):)

It's perfectly fine as long as its not got many chemicals in but all it does is dry out the zit - and I mean really dry it out so after you have the moisturise the area around the zit x

Please for the sake of your skin don't leave it on overnight. I did that in middle school & in the morning my zit turned in to the ugliest scab-thing ever. It looked like a chemical burn. I still have a scar from it.

And for goodness sake do not use whitening toothpaste!! Umm... It hurts a lil bit... 😳

I have tried it, and it ended in disaster! The skin became extremely dry, and the zit didn't even go away! It took a few days for the area to recover.

Invest in a good spot treatment.

The toothpaste thing never worked good for me. Try Liquid Advil Gels, just poke a hole or break one open and apply it to the blemish, I stick a bandaid over it at nighttime (the bandaid usually falls off though sometime in the night). Also I use hydrocortisone gel (I don't like the cream), I swear by it. I used to use all of those acne clearing spot treatments and I feel like they stopped working. About the only other spot treatments I would recommend Murad, but other than that I do the Advil trick and hydrocortisone all the time.

Will toothpaste get rid of/help your blemishes? No. Toothpaste initially just dries out the pimple, it has nothing to do with getting rid of the actual blemish or helping it.
Not only that - toothpaste contains too many irritants. Using it on your skin won't really do it any good. You can actually make it worse, or trigger more breakouts to occur in the surrounding area.
Like Lisa Said, to make swelling/inflammation go down any aspirin tablet or liquid capsule will work.
However, Hydrocortisone is just a recipe for a disaster and should never be used unless prescribed specifically by a doctor for your face. Otherwise, you're risking not only a facial disaster of hypo-pigmentation and thinning, but as well as your actual health.
Hydrocortisone just helps bring down the swelling like an advil capsule or Neosporin. ( You can Google 'Hydrocortisone for your face' and thousands of articles come up with pictures. Or you can ask your doctor like I did. It's generally not a good idea. )
What I find most effective, and what was recommended to me was Neosporin.
I personally use Neosporin, and it was recommended to me by my doctor. I find it to be very effective as it's an antibiotic and the redness/swelling is next to gone. I'm just left with the tiny dot from the lesion and spot.

Oh yeah I like using Neosporin like Kitty said. And also my dermatologist had recommended the hydrocortisone for me^

Toothpaste has never worked for me. The zit has never gone away, it's just dried out the area around it.
