I want extremely red hair. Not a coppery color, but one with either a blue or violet undertone. I've had my hair this color before and LOVED it. The only problem is that my hair fades so fast. What is the best red hair color you've used? I'd like something that stays for a little, but also isn't very damaging. I understand that you need to freshen up reds often, so something that isn't damaging would be great.

When I had that colour hair, I went to a shop that sells to hairdresses and bought a massive bottle of red hair dye and topped up the colour once a week.

I also used Loreal hi color highlights in red and magenta. You can find it at Sally's beauty supply. I kept my hair red for a year and I would say I dyed it maybe once every month and half. Here is what it looked like when it was red:

You could mix a semi permanent color with your shampoo so it can stain the hair and keep the red color in or even mix it with a treatment and leave it in so you get to refresh you color as well as hydrate and/or add strengthen it.
