It was no secret that Urban Decay was on the auction block. Industry folks were discussing this in all the major business mags. That's why they were looking into expanding into China to make themselves more worthwhile in the eyes of potential buyers. Its a wrap now....owned by Loreal....its only a matter of time before they quietly move into China.

I think it sucks because UD has always prided themselves on being cruelty free. With this buyout by L'Oreal, which is a huge company, I doubt UD will be able to stay cruelty free anymore, which is sad. Don't get me wrong. L'Oreal has nice products but I don't know if this event will cause the product quality to fall.

Meh, I f-ing loathe L'oreal so I'm not very fond of this either.

I was thinking the same thing as Shelley. I've always picked UD's products first because they are cruelty free. I love that they advertise that fact, too. I really hope they can stay cruelty free.

Totally agree Melissa F. I think UD now sucks..gonna lost their personality..

I agree with Rikki. I loathe L'oreal with everything in me. So I'm very upset to see this =[

Rikki and Victoria, why do you guys hate L'Oreal so much? I'm curious as to whether there's something ominous I should know about this brand! I know I'm not a big fan of the fact that they own so many companies, but I don't have any real problems with them.

They fight FOR animal testing. It's one thing to just do it, but to fight against anti-animal testing is disgusting. And honestly, I've never been attracted to any of their products. And the ones I have tried aren't very remarkable. And theres yucky stuff in them.

I have just recently started using UD products and really loving the line. I can't imagine that anything good will come from this. I could be wrong though. I just hope they don't mess with the quality and formula of the products or it being cruelty free.

SO MANY of my staple, daily products are UD. As much as I hate to buy into L'oreal, I will continue to purchase UD, unless they start messing around with the formulas. If they do that, I'm out!

Victoria-- I didn't know that. That actually really disappoints me. You're right, testing on animals is not cool (and most likely not necessary) but to take it to that level is really bad. Thanks for your response. Sounds like I have some research to do!

L'oreal also owns Giorgio Armani which is cruelty free- so UD most likely will be able to stay cruelty free as well.
