My hair colour was about the same as yours and I used Carnation Pink, mine turned out a dark cherry red with a slight pink tone in the sunlight :)

Try the shwartzkopft L+ dyes if you don't want to make or use bleach, it's the same thing but does les damage than making your own. I agree the pink you put in will probably only take to the ends and you won't like the end result.

So lightening if you want it actual pink is a must.
