What is the purpose of wrong foundation brush bristles before use? And does it make that big of a difference?

i was asking myself the same question.. i just bought my foundation and when the lady applied it on my face it felt flawless because she wet it.. but wen i tried it at home i forgot to wet it the foundation didnt lay right on my face as when she did it..
