Medium Brown Hair Dye?

My friend has burgundy hair and wants black in it, but we only have medium brown hair dye.. Could that turn black if we leave it in long enough?

Everytime I've used a medium brown hairdye it ends up coming out almost black, which is why I stopped buying them. So it won't come out black/blue black if that's what you're wanting but it will darken it.
