Jergen's is okay, but it can look a little orange sometimes :s
Sally Hansen makes decent tanning sprays too. I personally would go to a tanning salon & buy a good quality cream or spray.

Honestly I would go get a spray by a professional. I love getting them by and actual person, not the machines, since they can actually see where you need another coat or extra layer. A lot easier than trying to scrub yourself all over too! I can't never get my back right.. But make sure you look up reviews online for good spray tans in your area. I got lucky and have a fantastic lady that I absolutely love going to.
If you're really opposed to that, St Tropez or million dollar tan are my favorite. I just bought Fake and Bake since that one also looked good (on sale at Ulta for like $14!). You always want to shower, shave, exfoliate exfoliate exfoliate all over your body, then shave again before you get a staining tan. Makes it last longer and apply more evenly. Don't take a shower for at least 24 hours after. I usually wait 2 days. It takes a full day for the tan to fully develop color and sink into your skin. Good luck and have fun!

Bondi sands or black magic in mousse is amazing, applied with a tanning mit... there like a purple base tan so they don't leave you looking orange and it looks so natural. I used to use Sally Hansen but their tan is like a spray on foundation its really thick and what ever you wear with it will turn to orange :( But like Emily said make sure you exfoliate like crazy and try hold off a shower for as long as possible!
Gooodluck :)

St. Tropez dark mousse. it's green based to give a natural tan and use a tanning mitt it applies evenly that way. Exfoliate really well I recommend getting scrubby gloves from like Walgreens or an exfoliating body wash. Shave. Use a light moisturizer on your knees, elbows, and wrists and I know this sounds weird but your armpits and the crease of your arms and moisturizer your hands as well. Have someone help you with your back. I have monkey arms so it's not hard to me to do my back. Lay a towel down and go to sleep wake up and rinse off. You'll have a really nice natural tan. When doing your hands make sure your knuckles are moisturized and make a claw hand to rub the mitt over them with the left over product.
