So I have been doing a pretty solid morning routine- I wash my face with either Lancome Clarifiance Oil Free Gel Cleanser or Purpose Cleanser (I switch every other day) Then I just use an Aveeno moisturizer afterwards. My skin does not look radiant and I get random pimples here and there (but according to the woman at the counter the Lancome is supposed to help with that) I do not get pimples often just randomly- but when I get them they're are usually about 3 or 4 on my cheek or chin and my skin has been looking very dull :( ...I need help with a good moisturizer and cleanser- any suggestions?!

For cleanser I like cetaphil or olay. They have a range of products that are geared toward different skin types so you would have to find the right one for your skin, but as for moisturizer... im still on the hunt as well!!

But i think overall, just switching up your face routine will generally help to brighten your skin

Do you use an exfoliant of some sort on your face? (either a BHA or AHA product, or even a very gentle scrub?). I think that using something like that would really help your skin out. If you are only using a cleanser and moisturizer, then there could be dead skin cells on the surface of your skin that aren't being removed that could lead to it looking dull. I'd also suggest something like the Clarisonic, or if that's too pricey, then the Olay Pro-X...they have really helped me out. Also, try using a very gentle cleanser (I'm not sure how gentle Lancome's is). CeraVe has some good products and isn't too pricey either.

Here is some good info on exfoliants! http://www.cosmeticscop.com/exfoliate-for-bright-smooth-and-radiant-skin.aspx

Thank you Alexis- I have actually tried Cetaphil (at first I loved it and swore by it, but it really dried my faced out and made my skin look even duller :( )

@Melanie, I don't use an exfoliant- is there anything you recommend? Thank you so much for the link :) very helpful!

Laura you need to find core products and stick to them. Believe it or not your skin likes familiarity and switching between products could cause you o have those breakouts. I have really sensitive skin, so I understand your pain. 1st rule when you are trying to find core products give it a week to see the true benefits, if they cause you to break out or irritation etc, toss and move on. A product should not have to make your skin worse before it gets better. I have had several cleansers and moisturizers that have worked for me Clinique http://www.clinique.com/products/CATEGORY14110/3_step/Step_1_Cleanse/index.tmpl which is @ 13 dollars for a bar, Philosophy purity made simple (bar) http://www.philosophy.com/skin-care/skincare-category/skincare-cleansers @ 19 dollars. These are two out of my top 3. Hope this helps, let me know if i can help with anything else. check out my blog if you would like to see the before and after pics of my face using my latest facial cleanser.

@Laura I just started using a product by philosophy called "the afterglow" and I really like it. Its marketed more as an aftershave product, but I just apply it to my face every night after cleansing. I used it moreso to get rid of flaky skin, so if you're trying to get rid of acne you may want to try something with salicylic acid in it. There's a lot of products that have that, I think Neutrogena may have some good products to try out and also Olay. I'd also get a cleansing brush system if you can (the Olay Pro-X one is good if you don't want to spend a lot for a Clarisonic, its around $25-$30) :-)

Hi there! I have tried tons of cleansers and moisturizers since my teenage years but Oil of Olay products seem to work the most for me! I don't like to spend a lot, so I use the age defying daily renewal products. They are on the low end of the spectrum but work better than any department store stuff. Additionally, drinking tons of water and a consistent exercise routine make a difference too...Plus never leave the house without some sort of sunscreen on your face and neck!!

The pimples could be caused by you not removing all your make-up at night or a dirty pillow or cellphone. If they are just occasionally. For more glowing skin I would up my moisturizer use. Maybe you could use a night moisturizer and change up your day moisturizer to something that works better for you. The only way you'll find out is if you try different products because everyone's skin in different. hopefully this helps.

Thank you Grace and Christina! I will defiantly try Oil of Olay- good point Grace- it could possibly be from my cellphone! Any recommendations for nightly moisturizer?

Make sure your not using fragrance products. Those can cause pimples

Philosophy's Purity Made Simple is my favorite cleanser. And their hope in a jar moisturizer has properties that exfoliate as well. And for exfoliating with a cleanser I use a silicone cleansing pad from Sephora. You can use any cleanser with it. I use purity made simple with it and it feels great. The great thing about purity also is it removes all makeup in one step, including eye makeup. I would definitely get a small bottle to try out :)
