Biotin Supplement

In the US Biotin is anywhere from $10-20 at any pharmacy. If you buy at a pharmacy the pharmacists usually can answer any questions that you have about biotin and multivitamins.

Also, I wouldn't suggest taking Biotin everyday for the rest of your life, only to grow out what you want to grow out. While taking supplements can be risky so is taking tylenol, advil, or even eating things with high amounts of sodium and sugar. Just be smart about what your doing, some multivitamin even contain biotin so depending on what you get you may not even need the biotin supplement. Talking to your doctor and pharmacist is key =]

I reall want to try biotin, but @Yasmin is right, there are some pretty dangerous side effects :/ I'm gonna really look into these before I try them, how much do they cost?

That's a very good point! Already did that! =]

The thing about taking a multivitamin or any supplement is that you need to see a doctor first who can order blood work to see where you're deficient at. Taking any medication over-the-counter is risky business but even more so when it comes to vitamins and supplements because you CAN overdose on it and ruin your liver and even your bones.

So I finally picked up the Biotin after reading about how amazing it is and I have been taking them with a multi vitamin since Saturday (Nov. 5) I cannot wait to see the results!!

I tried Biotin for a few months (5000mg) and I loved it. Definitely made a huge difference in my hair. I got about an inch of growth after a month, but I actually first noticed the difference in my eyelashes. They got way longer too. I never really noticed anything with the thickness of my hair because it's already stupid thick, but if anyone is looking for a vitamin supplement that helps stimulate a little growth, I've heard amazing things about Nioxin's Intense Therapy Recharging Complex. I had a few clients say that they noticed a difference within a few days and one of the other stylists I worked with said that every time she parted her hair she saw new little hairs growing after a few weeks.

So Biotin makes your hair grow...longer? Does it make it grow thicker too?

Prenatals are essentially the same as multivitamins with folic acid and extra iron in them.

The pre-natals, not so much. They have too much iron. A multi and a biotin supplement should be great.

Wouldn't it be the same as taking pre-natals? I know those help the hair and skin as well and gives your body more nutrients. Do you still need to take a multivitamin when taking biotin?

It is THE BEST!! It's the one item I guarantee to my clients. Within a month, you'll notice an increase in growth in hair. I actually don't recommend it to clients that get relaxers or color because they have to come in for retouches more often. You'll even notice that you have to shave or wax more often (the one bad side effect). Viviscal works great for thinning, too. (It's much more pricey, though)

Walmart, target, h-e-b, and walgreens :)

Where do you get biotin at?

I've been taking Biotin the 5,000mg once a day since Sept. 30 and I'm noticing my nails grow more than my hair. I'm going to keep taking them though because maybe I'm just not paying much attention to my hair =)

Kinda' piggybacking on Alexanda's question, and I have a really weird one, at that..... Does biotin/protein make your hair grow... everywhere? =\

I just bought biotin :) I have pretty long hair but wanted to improve my hair, skin, and nails. Does biotin make lashes grow? And does it help maintain clear skin combined with a good cleansing system?

It's about nails, how they grow and how to maintain them. It's kind of the same for the hair :)

I've been taking biotin for about 3 weeks now and I just started to noticed growth. I use the hair, skin, nails multi I bought at Walmart.

I wouldn't recommend a vitamin B overload (Biotin is B7). The effect on your kidneys can't be good...

ooh i definitely need to get these supplements too! can you take B6 and Biotin together? Do you think they would work faster, or would it be too much?

hmm i want to look into these supplements!

I take it religiously - and noticed about 3 weeks in that my nails were growing lightning fast! Then I noticed a change for the better in my hair's texture and moisture retention, which led to less breakage.

I would say 6 weeks or so....WalMart also sells a vitamin called "hair skin and nails"....It works like a charm and will improve your hair skin and nails lol!
