No Shampoo Challenge

I wonder if I could do this? I have slightly damaged hair, but it's not too oily either.
My deal is, when I wash my hair (with any shampoo) my scalp gets really itchy and it's almost irritated.

I might try this!

For the last few months I have been washing every other day. I was an every day girl myself. One day last week I actually tried the conditioner washing and was amazed at how my hair felt cleaner, and was so incredibly soft. I was not into the idea of "dirty hair". It literally makes me cranky to feel dirty. The in between days I would use dry shampoo until my scalp adjusted to not being washed everyday, I can now go sans the dry shampoo, and I can go about 3 days now without washing. It actually kinda amazed me that my hair stopped being so oily, and it was an adjustment not washing my hair everyday, but my hair is so much healthier now than it's been in years!

I had no idea about this until I clicked this topic - now I REALLY want to try this! I feel the reason I have such oily hair is because of how much I shampoo, so I could benefit from this.

What would you do on the days where you have product/hairspray in your hair?

I REALLY want to give this a shot!

^ believe it or not, the reason why most hair becomes so oily so often is because shampoo strips the natural oils in your hair & your hair tries to fix that by making it oily. So shampooing it away just makes the problem worse. I've been having the same problem & feel that this would be great therapy for my hair.

We'll do it together! haha XD

Andrea G. ~ Vinegar or baking soda will take the excess product out of your hair if you use things like hairspray and gel.(:

Thanks! I will attempt to do this!

For you guys who are just starting out - my best advice would be to grin and bear it the first week. go 2 to 3 days between shampoos. your hair is going to get oily and feel dirty but just put it up so you forget about it. after a week or so fo this, your scalp will adjust, i promise. I advise using a dry shampoo in-between regular shampoos and as for the question about styling products.....my best advice would be to use them minimally. I do use hairspray every so often but that's usually to hold my hair when it's up. So, i just brush out the product and respray my hair in the same position the next day. I don't use a lot of products though as it will weigh on your hair. A good thing about the hairspray is it contains alcohol which actually dries up oil. Good luck guys!

Still doing it! It feels a little strange though. Will the natural oily-ness go away eventually?

I sweat a lot especially if I'm exercising or playing a sport which I do 3-4 times a week so I need to wash my hair! lol I have went a week without washing it and I personally don't like it doing that to my hair but hey if it works for you go for it! =]

My hair gets particularly oily after 2 days.. so I decided I'm going to buy a cleansing conditioner! How long should you wait to condition the hair? Every 2-3 days? :3

I can go about a week without washing my hair, but after that my hair kind of smells and feels really really dirty.
