A hot mess in what way? What's your hair type?

Hello Blesi, I have super thick hair too! It's a pain in the butt, especially when you try to put your hair in a hair tie and and it snaps!! What I found that works best is to straighten it. Or if you're not looking to put heat on your hair, you can braid it into a pony and use a small scarf to tie it off at the ends. Hope that helps :)

i'd straighten it, but if you don't want to put heat on your hair you should try curling you hair naturally my friend has very think hair and all she does is put a anti-frizz serum and she does this : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iP3k1t0LjQc
and it turn out gorgeous even on short hair :)

i have super duper thick hair ( i always have) but I recently got it cut with lots of short layers on the top and longer layer on the bottom and it really helped to thin out my hair a lot. I feel like my hair weighs 50 pounds less, plus it takes half the time to blow dry now. I know what you mean by a hot mess, bc if I dont blow dry my hair with the right products thats exactly what it looks like, a hot mess! I use a leave in conditioner, then paul mitchell's super skinny serum, then i use a root boost spray on the crown and roots. I blow dry my hair in sections using one of those big round brushes. All of that really does help. I know it sounds like a lot but its not that bad and its worth it. Hope I helped :)

Yes that all helped a lot! The type of hair I have is long (mid chest) and shortish layers. Layering did help in a way but making it a lot lighter. I used to straighten it everyday but now I'm getting sick of it because I want body! The problem I have is I don't have the patience for Blow Dryers :/ Since my hair is so thick it takes a while. I am going to start using no friz spray right away!

Have curls, then embrace them! I am a stylist that specializes in curly hair, there is so much you can do with your locks. My recommendations: Get a good layered cut by someone who knows how to work with curly hair. Put some internal layers into it, this gives it space and movement. Never leave your house naked...of products that is. My fav is BOING by Unite mixed with the Scruncha Gel or Paul Mitchell The Conditioner, mixed with Paul Mitchell Sculpting Foam.
Most important...hydrate your hair. Moisturizing shampoos and conditioners are best for curly hair, as it tends to be dry naturally. For some interesting and fun information get the book Curly Girl http://tinyurl.com/3osmmyl
Good Luck
