when i went to the birchbox site a few days ago, the ship date was july 20something. now it's august 10th.
now, my question is, are the first batch of boxes that go out for the month the "better" boxes? i know sometimes, some people mention they get a full sized item or a special item, then some say they didn't get it.
i know they sort of customize your box for you depending on skin tone & stuff, so obviously some things are going to be different. but i just don't know if the different ship dates for the month mean anything! any help would be greatly appreciated....i hope it all made sense!

did you just sign up for birchbox? I did, I will get my first box in August and I can't wait! I hope this isn't the case. I don't think it is, but I am not an expert on birchbox! I am just really excited about it! I will follow this to see what everyone says!

The boxes are random so even if you signed up on July 1 or 31 the box you get will be random. My daughter received box 6 and I received box 1 in July. I just posted earlier today about previous boxes on my blog:

I have no idea how Birchbox selects who gets what box or if there is a selection other than what you put in your profile.
As for the shipping waves. I think that has more to do with where the item is shipping to versus who is getting what box.

yasmin- wow i didn't know they had numbered boxes like that! good to know! thanks doll! i also didn't factor shipping into it all! makes total sense! i'm going to sign up then! i just wanted to make sure i was going to get a left over box or something! :p
nykki- it's exciting isn't it!? i'll be running home to check the mail everyday!

@ahsley H - My first box in April took 20 days to get to me after it shipped. So bizarre. But the second box on came about 3 days after it ships. I'm having fun with it, I have all of my past boxes on my profile pics if you want to check them out. xoxo

@Nancy-Lee - my box this month disappeared for almost two weeks between NJ and WA. Because the UPSP and Streamlite site didn't update for over a week I ended up contacting Birchbox who ended up sending me a replacement box which arrived within three days (shipped on Monday, arrived on Wednesday). What's funny is that three days after the replacements arrived the originals ended up arriving and the tracking info was finally updated.
Here's part of the tracking. Birchbox is aware of the situation so my suggestion to anyone whose box goes missing is to contact them because most likely it's Streamlite's fault.
07/08/2011 06:35 PM Streamlite - MOONACHIE, NJ Received from Shipper
07/09/2011 04:19 AM Streamlite - MOONACHIE, NJ Enroute to Destination Processing Center
07/20/2011 01:18 PM Streamlite - SEATAC, WA Arrived at Destination Process Center
11 days missing from NY to WA is not acceptable and then it took three days after arriving at their distribution center in WA to actually get to me. Total time after it left Birchbox to get to me - 15 days... on a PRIORITY mail label.

Keep an eye on tracking. If the tracking info hasn't updated in two or three days it's likely Streamlite has your box somewhere at one of their warehouses. If that happens let Birchbox know so they can look into it. Hopefully Streamlite gets their act together for August.
