Do YOU Wear The Makeup Or Does The Makeup Wear YOU?

I think I get what you're asking.

I also think it's great that we're able to switch things up, become a "different" persona when we're wearing different makeup looks. Two examples come to mind: RuPaul and Illamasqua (the brand)

RuPaul definitely takes on a different personality when he's all tarted up in wigs, makeup, heels. Out of all that, he's a bit more subdued, at least that's what I've gleaned from interviews and in-person appearances.

Illamasqua, whose tag line is "makeup for your alter ego" focuses on nighttime makeup, a sense of drama and play. I know that personally, when I go all-out, I feel a little more daring. For everyday, my appearance is industry-standard professional.

At any rate, makeup should be fun, experimental, and as individual as you are.

I think some people wear makeup to feel better about themselves as well. I never wore foundation until I was introduced to Mac Face and Body and that is not even considered foundation...The tinted moisturizer boosts my self confidence a boost.

As long as you are not looking like a clown (on purpose at least) then YOU wear the Makeup and the Makeup isn't wearing you.

Nice Mandy. And it is so true..when I wear certain colors I feel cute, other times sexy, other times like a hot tamale lol

In my case I absolutely love the power of makeup! With a few flicks of a brush you can accomplish so many things! You can be the cutesy doe eyed girl next door, or the sexy bad girl, even if that's not who you "are". My makeup usually goes with my mood, sometimes I'll be lazy and only put on foundation/bronzer/blush, then other times I'll go full on, dramatic lids, lashes, glitter, the works! I love that as women we have the power to transform ourselves and not be placed in a cookie cutter, makeup allows us to be as creative as our imaginations will allow, and for me it's so empowering!

My friends always say to me "Oh I could never wear that bright eyeshadow like you do" and my response to that is always "Of course you can, it's all about confidence!" If you let the makeup wear you it's obvious to those around you, and appears as if one isn't quite comfortable in their own skin. When I go out with a crazy bright eyeshadow look I don't even think twice, people will acknowledge it or say how much they love it and I always reply "What does it look like I don't even remember?" For me it's as natural as wearing a shirt.

I think it's great that people can express themselves through makeup in such a way that it can actually bring out a part of you that you didn't even know existed. I know that when I have a full face on I feel so much more fierce or playful or daring, depending on the look, than when I've just done my natural face for work.

That being said, I do notice a change in myself when I have just a natural face on. it boosts my confidence level drastically. I don't think I'd be who I am or be able to communicate my personality to others without having a face on.

Some people think of makeup as a mask, and yes, it is. But the great thing about this mask is it's not permanent, like @Mandy said. Changing your persona doesn't change you, it just displays a different aspect of yourself. You're creating your own face, so even though it's not your bare skin, you're still bearing your self.

like Dylan i notice a change in myself with makeup on. im more daring and way more confident. i think makeup is a way of bringing out your inner self. if you wear bold makeup looks you normally can tell that person feels confident with who they are. even though makeup is a mask, but i think it's a mask of the person you are inside. makeup is like fashion in a way, you can display your emotions and build your confidence by every piece you choose. each person has different style and makeup. makeup is not and will never be just makeup to me.it will alwyas be a way of life.

I love makeup, I wear very dramatic makeup all the time, false eyelashes, crazy colours... but it's just who I am... I can express myself with my makeup, it's my art and it's also what I picked as a career path.
