I'm about to enter college, I'm currently unemployed, and I basically have nooo money..haha. I've been wanting to do hauls & stuff. I'm not sure if I'm gonna make Youtube videos or just blog, or both in the future, but either way I'm not sure how I should start. I'm definitely not a makeup artist or expert, but I'm a sucker for great beauty buys and natural/organic products as well. Does anyone have any tips on how I should go about starting a blog and how to be consistent with it? I tend to randomly quit things..lol. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated! :) thanks!

im new blogger myself and i think the thing to remember is that people look for commited blogs and not just 2 or 3 posts. and post things that you want to write about, not what everyone else is writing about because thats just not interesing. heres my blog http://nadiesanddaisies.blogspot.com/ xxx

I think you really have to be dedicated to writing it because if you're not interested in what you're writing neither will your readers. I also find it helps to post regularly because you will begin to loose readers if you post say every month without letting them know. I also find that high quality images can help your blog I remember reading that somewhere when looking at some blog tips.

Figure out how often you think you'll be able to post and stick with it. Sometimes it helps me to scribble up a rough schedule to keep me on track. If you're feeling creative and want to write a bunch, set them up in queue. Readers like consistency.

Write about what you love, because that's what will keep you going when you think nobody is reading. There are so many blogs out there, that it can take a while to pick up a following. It can feel like a thankless venture for the first few months to a year, but if you enjoy it - then keep it up. Hard work does pay off in the end. :]

i'm new too and the best thing to do is make a list of things you know you want to blog about.. then take a free day and photograph anything you want pictures of so they're on your computer. that way, if you have a free minute, all you have to do is type up the blog and post it. i like to write blogs sometimes at like midnight and the last thing i want to do at that time is take a picture of something haha. it really does help. otherwise, what eeveryone else is saying is true!!

I'll echo the others in saying that you should definitely write about what you love! And if you love makeup/fashion products enough to start a blog on it, then you won't have any problem being consistent and keeping up with blogging because you'll always have things to talk about! =p Sometimes I'll have a bunch of different things I have on my mind to talk about and other times I'll have nothing to post...so what I do is write out a bunch of posts (reviews, etc) in advance and save them as drafts. Then I'll publish one of them when I feel like its time for a post! Another tip I'd suggest is to be interactive with your readers in any way that you can (always respond to comments and visit other people's blogs as well). Awards, tags, contests, or giveaways (if you are able to afford it) are also great ways to both gain and keep readership. I think adding Youtube videos in your blog would be great because it offers a variety of media to viewers (not just text), and sometimes that is more interesting. Unfortunately, I'm still working on not being awkward in front of the camera so I haven't done any Youtube vids yet haha.

Best of luck! :)

I find that sometimes I'll get a million different ideas and want to blog about them all, and then a week later I have NOTHING to write about. If you are passionate about what you are writing about and have a lot of good ideas, write them down and keep a good post flow. I write all my ideas down in a Moleskine notebook that I also use as a mousepad, so if I get an idea while surfing the net I can write it down! As for the money thing- maybe set aside a little bit of money and eventually buy a few things to do a haul with? Look for coupons, buy 1 get 1 free's, and other deals so that you save money and help your readers save money.

Thanks to all of you guys! :) You all bring up very good points and great advice, like writing a bunch a posts and saving them in a queue. And I'll be sure to check out all of your lovely blogs as well! :) Hopefully I start something soon ;)
