Primers work amazing, like face primers for foundation, and eye primers for eyeshadow! I used to use a MAC primer, don't remember what it is called though. I love Shadow Insurance from Too Faced! A good concealer that I've found is from MAC: Pro Longwear (My shade is 115.) A few more things would include:
A Pink, Red, and Nude Lipstick. (Makeup sure the Nude Color matches your skin!)
A super good Mascara! (I use Bare Essentials)
A neutral eyeshadow.
Good Brushes! (This is the key to good makeup! You want brush that are soft, and densely packed, this helps with application. I am a big fan of MAC Brushes, but you can find cheaper, nice quality brushes and Sephora, or any makeup store like that.)
I would suggest getting a small palette that has a variety of colors, and trying them out, to see which best fits you.
Hope this helps! If you have any more questions feel free to ask!

Your favorite foundation, concealer, blush, bronzer, eyeshadow quad, liner, and setting powder of course! Easy peasy! Just read around especially on foundations and concealers, as those are the two products that will be hit or miss. I have combination-oily skin that is senstive and acne prone. I love love love MUFE Face and Body Foundation, or for an in-expensive option I would try Neutrogena Healthy Skin foundation. Concealer: I am obsessed with Clinique Line Smoothing Concealer and Almay's Bright Eyes concealer.

Aw I am sorry! I am no expert, but if you can give me a list of concerns I think we can all try and make a list with some good things to try. = ) I saw you have combination skin, what kind of finish do you like on your foundation? Do you have concerns with dark eye area, or blemishes? Are you acne prone? If you can answer those for me, I can definitely give you some solid recommendations. = )
