1. DO realize that you don’t have to wear everything in your makeup bag at once. We're all for glamour (obvi!), but red lipstick at yoga = overkill
2. DON'T expect miracles from your makeup. Can you cover dark circles? Yes. Can you escape a genetic tendency toward dark circles? No.
3. Dos save money by mixing up new shades. Update an old lip colour by layering on gloss, or mix two shades together. A whole new palette for free!
4. DON’T chase every makeup trend. Celebs have to be seen in the latest look every season. You can be a choosier.
5. DO have a variety of “faces” in your repertoire. A quick day face, a killer nighttime look – having a few go – to options will save you time and angst.
6. DO go out without makeup occasionally. Take a picture even. It’s the one naked photo you can send with impunity.
7. DON’T skimp on equipment. A really good blush brush or eyelash curler is worth it.
8. DO step out of your cosmetic comfort zone. Winged eyeliner? A red lip? Just do it.
9. DON’T keep makeup forever. Toss immediately if colour or smell changes; give mascaras three months, foundation 12 – 18 months
10. DO remember that you still have to wash off all your makeup every night. (Sorry – your mom made us say that!)
