Hello all! So I am a junior in high school and need to start thinking about colleges and career options. What are all of the options of the careers in the makeup artistry/fashion world? What have your experiences been? Any tips or recommendations for choosing a career or major? Please help! Blessings!

I think most people take the art or business route.
I'm a makeup artist and I took the business route. it's applicable to every field you decide to go into.

Hi Heather! That's a great question many students your age have. We just ran a four-part series on different careers in the beauty biz—might shed some light on new options :) ~V

I'll agree California has amazing schools for special effects makeup (Make Up Designory). I chose to get my esthetician's license since it's all encompasing (skincare, makeup, etc.) and I have more options with it.

Im in school for Aesthetics & Spa Therapy, and Im going to be furthering my career in make-up with more advanced make-up courses from professional make-up academies. --Which ever you decide, look into every single possibility in your area that does what you want & ask around for info. Also, try to find make-up artists in your area to see what they did as well! :) Best of luck hun!

Right now I'm in school for make up & esthetics. Then I'm going to go to college for chemistry because I want to be a cosmetic chemist focusing in skin care with a specialization in acne or skin problems like discoloration, rosacea, etc. (:
