i am hving a hard timefindina red lipstick that works for me i have abt 5 differnt kinds they all seam too dark or they wash my face out i currently am a nc30 in mac studio fix powder so any help will help me thanks

@Beatrice- I just had this conversation with a friend of mine who has similar coloring to yours. All women can rock red lipstick, you just need to find the right shade. I sent her to www.pinupgirlclothing.com for inspiration. She has since rocked the red lips and looked gorgeous!
Oh, Lorac makes a great matte red, the name escapes me though.

on an added note - I'm tanned and always wear pretty dramatic eye make up - but I wanted to experiment with Red lipstick, any ideas - im scared its going to wash me out!

I have went through many different shades of red myself. I could never find that shade that I really felt was what I wanted. That is until I found Revlon's Really Red in matte. And to me, I think the matte is really what I was missing. Good luck on your hunt! I think Tree M may have your color!

You could try Revlon's super lustrous blackberry 640 it's like a mix between a dark red and true red, (if that makes sense) it has a nice finish as well, not matte, not shiney but moisturizing. I actually use it more than my MAC ruby woo (another fave by the way)

also forgot to add, goes well with NYX lip liner in hot red, it brightens up the red a bit if u still find it a bit dark

I love MAC's ladybug. It is a sheer red, so I feel more comfortable with wearing this too school without looking too dressed up or over dramatic. But if you want to look really glam, I would recommend MAC's russian red. It's that perfect, classic shade that just screams movie star.

I really like Revlon's Matte lipstick In The Red, it is a really nice deep red and you can always add shine by applying a red gloss or a clear gloss on top. Also, I love Urban Decay's Super Saturated High Gloss Lip Colour in F-Bomb, it's super smooth and really pigmented and is both a lipstick and a lipgloss at the same time!

try using MAC"s viva I lipstick. it's a matte red lipstick. it's a little deeper in color than russian red, but overall it's a beautiful color. i like it a little more than russian red, just cause it's not as bright and much more wearable. also by purchasing a viva glam, your helping out with the MAC's aids foundation. that's always a plus!

I know you've already gotten a lot of suggestions, but I just started using Urban Decay's 24/7 lip liner in "Gash" and Make Up Forever's lip stick in "Moulin Rouge." It was specifically created for the movie production, itself, in order to acquire that TRUE red. :) Good luck!
