Eyeshadow Primer Dilemma

@Kaci, that's make two of us: I also have oily lids and even the cult-fave Urban Decay Primer Potion doesn't do anything for me. I use blotting tissue on my lids and even tried putting a bit of powder to soak up the oil, but none of these seem to work. Someone help us! XD

I have pretty oily lids--my routine which works really well for me is this:

-First, I prime my lids with UD Primer Potion
-Then, I apply NYX eyeshadow base
-Then I brush on a light dusting of your favorite finishing powder

I do all of this for my lower lash area so that it doesn't crease there either. Blotting papers through out the day, patted to your lids, helps some as well but I find it totally messes up my makeup.

Hope this helps, ladies! I feel ya on the oily dilemma!

my lids are really oily too. i use mac's paint in bare canvas. lasts better than anything else i have tried. maybe shadow insurance isn't a good formula for you?

I use the primer just like Ariane^ I like using the pots after the primer gives your shadow extra hold

I have oily lids as well! When I first starting using Two Faced Shadow Insurance I did notice a bit of creasing at first but I realized that I was using a bit too much product. I decreased how much I was squeezing out the creasing stopped. :-) I hope that helps you out.

Just keep playing with it until you find something that works for your skin. The glory with makeup is that you can play and experiment all you want! There is no right or wrong answer :-) Good luck and let us know how it goes!

What I usually do on myself and other clients is I will dab some concealer on the eyelid to give me an eventone base then pat on the eye primer (I prefer lorac behind the scenes eye primer)...try that and see if it works..I don't use very much of the concealer or the primer just a little bit and I never rub it on the eyelid...I use a patting/dabbing motion

UUPD doesn't work for me either. I just got a sample for Shadow Insurance so I'm not sure about that one yet. My go-to primer is actually not a primer. I use MAC's Paint Pot in Painterly. It doesn't crease at all and I've gone more than 12 hours wearing it. It's only around $16 and it lasts forever! The only other primer that comes even close for me if Benefit's Stay Don't Stray.

I have both UDPP and the shadow insurance, and I, too, find that the shadow insurance still creases after like 5-6 hours..(I found out on new years eve =[ ) if I pay $20 I'm expecting 10 hours of no creasing, minimum. I love both brands equally, they're my all time favorites, but the udpp just works better for me.. I don't want to discard my shadow insurance so maybe I'll try letting it sit even longer before putting on eyeshadow.

I have really oily lids too, and on a everyday bases I put on Urban Decay Primer Potion and the some power over that. If I want it to last longer, I use the UD Primer Potion and MAC's Paint Pot in Bare Study and then powder on that!

I too have oily lids, and I use Urban Decay's primer potion in Eden.
I find that using this works really well because it is thicker than the UD one or the Too Faced one. Maybe try this one as well! And the important thing is that you only need 1 small "spot" on each eyelid is enough.

You might want to try Lime Crime's eyeshadow primer. I have the UD primer, Too Faced primer and Lime Crime's primer. UD and TF work pretty well except when it's insanely hot here in the summer (with high humidity). On those days in particular I will wear the LC one because that one really locks my shadow in place. So much so that when I'm removing my makeup at night, I find that it takes more effort to remove my shadow on days I wear the LC one.

I use UDPP in Greed and it works well. The regular one will crease on me. I have oily and hooded lids. I'll have to try the pressed powder thing and see if that help. I have a giant tube of UDPP that I need to use before I can buy any more.

A little goes a long way! remember that - Also, try to avoid using oxidizing products like foundations, concealers or cream shadows on your lids. Sometimes those products can oil up & cause creasing. =]

I have oily lids and use urban decay primer potion in "Eden" because it's matte. It has worked quite well for me. I've also tried Nars and that works well too, so i switch back and forth between the two.

I use too faced! Its really hard to determine if you are putting to much or too little, because sometimes i do end up with oily lids when i do that. But how i apply mine is.. i put a tiny dot on my ring finger and touch that with my other ring finger and then apply to my lids. you just have to play around with the dot size. Hope this helped, and wasn't to confusing!

Prior to any primer application on the lids, take a tissue to wipe off any excess natural oil to start with a clean slate. Then apply a small amount of shadow primer. Let it set and then apply shadow. A mistake people often do is apply shadow before primer has the time to set.

I have used udpp, a paint pot, nyx jumbo pencil in milk, the elf eye primer, loreal de-crease, plladio primer, and theres another one that I have tried but cant remember the name and NONE of them work.(on me anyways) I just got the nyx base in skin tone and havent tried it yet. I even went as far as using one of the above as primer, then a powder then paint pot then eye shadow and it didnt work. The mac oil control lotion has been helping with some of the oil but its still there. bad!
