I'm doing the same. Mostly the advice that I have been hearing is to protect your ends, keep hot tools out of your hair by doing protective styles (like buns, pony tails, heatless curls), keep a clean scalp, and keep moisture in your hair (conditioning).

Make sure you take hair/skin vitamins daily and definitely don't color or stress your hair too much with heat. It drastically changes the growing pace for myself. Hope that helps!

Keeping your hair healthy as it grows out is extremely important- so regular trims, every 6-8 weeks, good moisturizing treatments and not too much stress. Also, if you aren't taking any already start taking a multi vitamin daily as well as at least 5 mg of biotin daily. You can get that pretty cheap from walmart in a 1000 mcg dose, so just take 5 a day. Drink lots of water and just be patient :)

Massaging your scalp for an extra few minutes everyday when you're shampooing helps stimulate growth. Also use silk pillow cases or sleep with your hair in a silk scarf--the combination of moving a lot in your sleep and rough fabrics causes more breakage. Everything people have said about avoid any more damage is true.

I take a prenatal vitamin (a multivitain is great too), used horse and mane shampoo from sallys which helps stimulate your scalp, which helps it grow. (i just used the conditioner) and brushed my hair nightly. of course regular trims REALLY help. Try not to put your hair up when it's wet, really does break it. Good luck :p

i agree with Natalie. Hair goes through different cycles and it could be in the resting stage which could last aprox 7 yrs. Keeping it healthy by eating right, vitamins, reg trims and good conditioning treatments help immencely

When I drink protein drinks my hair grows faster not thicker but faster!

Apparently fish oil supplements help your hair grow healthier, and in turn, faster. (it also helps your nails!)
Regular trims to snip off the dead ends also helps your hair to grow! I know it sounds contradictory, but it's one of the things I remember one of my hairdressers telling me.
However I do agree with Natalie too! There's only so much you can do to your hair with helping it grow from the outside... a lot depends on things like what you put into your body! :-)

I take Biotin supplements to help my hair. It's growing in thicker, and it does seem to be growing faster, but I think it's because it is healthier, and therefore not breaking off as much.

Basically trim your hair every 6-8 weeks about half inch...use protein enhanced products such as damage remedy daily hair repair by aveda... You could try biotin vitamins (only prob with that is hair grows" thicker/faster" everywhere :0) castor oil is mainly going to clog your pores and cause build up causing the hair to grow even slower. Honestly by taking care of your ends and moisturizing the hair and limiting the use of hot tools is the best way to go. I am cosmetologist

Treat your hair like gold! My #1 tip is DON'T use anyy heat at all on your hair, and make sure you're deep conditioning and taking good care of it, as well as maintaining your ends healthy and trimming them about every two months. Basically, just leave your hair alone and magic will happen =)) xoxo

Heat is your enemy if you're trying to grow your hair out. Someone mentioned eating protein....that is an awesome way to obtain more length. I consume a lot of protein because I'm a fitness/bikini competitor and even before getting into all that my hair grew long anyway but when I upped my protein level my hair grew like one big weed. Applying protein to the hair helps somewhat but it works miracles when you ingest it. Good luck girl. :)

How often are you cutting your hair? You should not cut your hair as much... my hair grew seriously from above my shoulders to almost my butt in about a year and a half maybe... almost 2 years. Also, take your vitamins. It really helps!

YEs, take Biotin! That's what I did, oh and juice, juice alot! My hair was upto my shoulders about a month ago and now it's maybe an inch to two inches longer within the month and I swear its from juicing. I use Celery, Kale, salantro, beets, carrots, and all this other stuff and it works soo well!

Well my hair was badly damaged from the bleach in the blonde hair dyes I used to use so I decided to go back to my natural colour. I've recently cut my hair to shoulder length and have been applying oil to the ends (Argon) and only washing it every other day. I'm trying to not use heat for 6 weeks and then trim it again. I'll look in to vitamins and and juices etc.

About the Castor Oil, if that picture is the one you're using, that wan't do much. It would be better to massage Jamaica Black Castor Oil directly on your scalp. However, remember Castor oil is a pretty thick oil. Biotin helps...I've also heard a lot of good about Hairfinity vitamins. Drink lots of water. Get your split ends trimmed. Don't use heat.
