So now that I have more creative liberties with my hair, I'm deeply considering the whole ombre hair thing. Problem is, I dye my hair black every few months, and I recently had it colored.
I would love to keep the black but go to dark purple tips. Any suggestions on doing this, preferably without bleaching? I'm willing to wait a month or 2 for the dye to fade to brown, and re-dye the top black if that would be easier.
I just have a lot of hair, and am terrible at doing stuff with it, so I need all the help I can get.

If you don't want to do bleach maybe you could be creative with some clip in extensions or something, or make your own..that way you could put them in whenever you felt like doing something different and take them out when you dont. and they probly wont fade because you wouldn't have to wash them much. I duno, just a thought I couldn't think of another way to do it without bleaching if you wanted it super vibrant. :)

I figured as much. I love the extensions idea. Know any good tutorials on any of that? I've never used extensions, much less styled and dyed them!

I havent really looked into the ombre extension tutorials but I've seen them, but if you want to know how to make your own clip in ones then this one seemed like a really good video at explaining how to do it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HYy_vlbTWIc
Just make sure it's human hair, if its human hair you can do anything with it that you can do with your own hair as far as styling goes, you can wash it, curl it, flat iron it,etc.. I really don't know a video that i'd tell you to watch off the top of my head as far as an ombre tutorial with extensions go because I really haven't looked into them all that much, but I know there are a lot of them out there, just watch them and see which technique you like, because i've seen some of the videos and everyone does it differently. Sorry I couldn't be more help in the video dept. lol

You've been a lot of help, thanks so much! I'll have to look into getting some extensions, not sure what brands will ship to me here in Thailand, but hopefully some good ones!
