Hey everyone,
I dont know if this is a common problem but idk if it's just due to deodorant use or if this is some sort of condition but ever since i started using deodorant my underarms have been feeling very clogged up, sometimes i feel hard bumps and a few times it's felt infected. there are crevices that seem like their clogged with some black stuff. kind of look like blackheads except bigger. I tried stopping the deodorant for awhile and just using body spray but idk how to get rid of the little lumps and bumps. any suggestions? or does anyone have the same problem and have found an alternative deodorant. do the "natural" ones help?

It's probably ingrown hairs from shaving, that's what it sounds like. Basically the hair is trapped underneath the skin which is probably why it looks black, they can fill with puss or get infected. Exfoliate the area before you shave and shave in the SAME direction as the hair growth.
To remove the ingrown hairs, try exfoliating with products that contain salicylic acid to help bring everything to the surface and clear out the plugged folicle

First i would defiantly go get checked out by your Dr, you could have more of a problem than just being sensitive to deodorant. Is it antiperspirant or deodorant you use? maybe if you try just deodorant and not the kind that is antiperspirant and deodorant mixed could help. And for a home remedy for a more natural deodorant you could use milk of magnesia under your arms.

Sounds like ingrown hairs rather than the deoderant. You could try using the product Tendskin along with all the other recommendations. :)

What deodorant/anti perspirant are you using? Most anti-perspirants on the market contain a type of aluminum that literally "clog" the pores in order to stop perspiration. I just recently started using an all natural one from La Vanila. It doesn't trap anything into the skin and I've noticed a huge difference with ingrown hairs. What the La Vanila one does, is it actually kills the bacteria with an ingredient called beta-glucan, because it's not sweat that causes odor, it's the bacteria that lives in the moisture that causes odor. The only thing is that for the first six weeks you have to keep reapplying the deodorant and to "detox" your underarms. The underarms is actually where we release the most toxins out of our body, so detoxing sounded like a great idea for me after using regular aluminum-based antiperspirants for YEARS. And not to scare anyone, but that ingredient is INDIRECTLY linked to breast cancer according to some studies... So give the lavanila one a try :) They have a few different scents in Vanilla Passion Fruit (that's the one I got), vanilla grapefruit, vanilla coconut, vanilla lavendar, etc..

I had the same problem! I exfoliate before AND after shaving them, and use a clinical strength deodorant, and problem solved.:)

I'm a super serious believer in not using the deodorants with aluminum, chemical fragrances, etc. in them. When I was younger my underarms would get crazy sensitive if I used the regular ones off the shelf. I tried using crystal stick, but found it was a bit too harsh. My favorite is the Apricot one by Jason. I've seen it at drugstores, health food stores, whole foods, etc. Super great ingredients and much more gentle on my poor skin! Good luck!

i used to use degree ultra clear and then switched to secret scent expressions because i loved the smell of their va va vanilla! both were deodorant/antiperspirant combinations. i also started using an epilator because i like how it gets rid of everything from the roots up. but i've heard that epilators are notorious for ingrown hairs. i will try to get rid of the ingrown hairs and then try out those alternatives. wish me luck! thanks for all your help ladies!

In addition to what the other ladies said, try replacing your razor more often and sanitize it between each use.
