I first learned how to apply makeup when I was about 12 or 13. (Probably 12, though.) There was a period in my early twenties or so when I fell out of love with it, didn't care about it. It wasn't until my mid-twenties that I started to fall back in love with it, and not until last year that I started taking it more seriously. I'm 31 now.

When I was in the 1st grade, my BFF's mom sold Avon and their house was always stocked with samples (does anyone remember those teensy-weensy, little lipstick samples in the white tubes?). We would sit and play with those samples for hours. Applications were messy, and we usually ended up looking like street walkers but what did we care? Plus, it was the 80s and "street walker chic" was in, right? I'm 33 now and I have a baby girl of my own. She's not quite 2, but she's already into lip gloss and loves sampling creams at Bath & Body Works.

To be honest I can't remember a specific time. My earliest memory of being entranced with makeup was when I was like 6 years old. Before my mom would wake us up, I would always wake up early and sneak into her room while she was curling her hair, and putting on her makeup and watch her. When I was that young, I thought my mom was the prettiest woman alive. As i got older, I never really experimented with malkeup until I was about 16 and I didn't start wearing it in public until I was about 17. I started with powder, concealer and such as I didn't need much. After I turned 18 I began really learning more and more about application and products, which led me to purchase my first set of brushes. I also started going to gay nightclubs regularly where I had a lot of friends who practiced drag, or just wore makeup generally. Since then, I have learned a lot, and it has been a huge passion of mine
