Long story short. Miss Washington's Outstanding Teen is using Latisse to grow her lashes since one of the sponsors of the Miss Washington pageant (part of the Miss America pageant) is a doctor's office. She just turned 16 a few months ago and has thick and long lashes to begin with.
Should she be using it? Should she be promoting it as their model? And should she, as a teen role model, be promoting a product to other teens?
Lattise is a prescribed drug for glaucoma patients and it has some serious side effects. It is used on adults to help grow lashes but like I said there are some serious side effects. Is it worth the risk to teen eyes for vanity sake?

I agree with you Yasmin. Next thing you know, she'll be getting Botox. It doesn't make for a good role model to young girls.

Yeah I dont think so, kinda sad a "doctor" actually prescribed it to someone so young just because she wants more lashes... Doesn't seem right to me. I wouldn't even use that stuff after hearing all the side effects, messing with your eyes is just too risky.

I'm not a fan. I think it's unnecessary. You want longer lashes, there are other alternatives that are less risky - mascara, fake lashes - and less pricey as well. I can understand how older women might want it, but I think that, IMO, the only time it's reasonable is if the patient is doing chemo or whatever and has lost all her hair, and needs it for her self-esteem. Otherwise, stick to the less risky options.

Look at her environment, she is a pageant girl. I don't think she is too young to be using makeup, she is a 15 year old that just turned 16. These pageant girls need to get all spiffy and regardless they USE fake lashes to achieve nice looks. Just like any other girl, teen or woman does. However, If she already has thick long lashes, she shouldn't be a spokes person for Lattise because that would be false advertising!
Having said that, I'm not saying its OKAY to use lattise, I was merely stating the fact that it doesn't surprise me that she would want to. Would I use Lattise? NO WAY. I rather glue on lashes any day. I heard about those side affects and they are scary. I don't think anyone should use it for JUST for vanity sake , but I'm not directing this just to teens but to everyone-- If you're going to use it then you should REALLY be sure you want to and should be willing to accept consequences.

I use Latisse, but I'm a 32 year old woman. While the medication was developed for glaucoma, the side effect to applying it on the eyelid (not dropping it into the eye) is for lash growth. I'm not against people altering their appearance, it's their body, their life and I can't dictate what is right or wrong for them. However, children should be taught to love themselves from the beginning.
They probably thought that it was easier to use Latisse than to apply false lashes and have them last all day. I'm not going to judge the parents, they just have different priorities than some of us. This being said, I am really not the type to enter my child into a pageant in the first place.
