I dont know how it works now... or if it depends on the school, but I am a licensed esthetician and I didnt learn much makeup. I thought there was going to be alot more. I was upset about that. I was more interested in the makeup then the skin (I realized that once I was in school). If I remember correctly (and dont quote me on this it was 10 years ago), we spent about 2 weeks on makeup and then we could play on our time off or if someone came in to have their makeup done. I learned everything I know now just from practice through the years.

yea thats what i heard that cosmo and esthetician courses dont really focus on makeup but how is it working as a esthetician is it easy to find work ? as much as i love makeup i also want to make money doing it but if that doesnt work out i want to have a back up plan like esthetics

Im not working as a skin care specialist. I never really did. I tried for about 2 years but there wasnt enough money in it. It is straight commission and it never paid my bills so I always needed another job on top of that. After a while I just decided to go in a different direction. I should have done the hair thing in the first place. I would have made $$$. Right now I am going to school and starting to apply for nursing schools. Something totally different!!! I still love the beauty industry, it just doesnt love me financially. HAHA. I will always love doing makeup. I just want to have a more secure future. Do what you love and what you think you want to do for the rest of your life. I didnt want to go to college. I think I was just being lazy when I was younger (to be honest). Makeup is fun!!! But for me, it wasnt a career.

@stephanny Thank you! @Vanessa, you are right about that. But I think that you if you want to head into theatrical makeup or anything like that then you should look in that direction.
