THE SEPTEMBER ISSUE
Vogue promotes elitist views of femininity and beauty.
I came across this documentary on the plane few years back. Today, I finally get a chance to sit down and watch it all. The September Issue is a brilliant production, featured the Editor-in-chief of the America’s Vogue, Anna Wintour. Wintour has dedicated her time and soul to the world renown fashion bible since 1988 - the year I was born. I get the point of stress, pressure, and heat in the head office at New York. But what’s with the idea of wearing sunglasses at fashion shows? I believe that huge pair of Chanel’s offers her resilience to the spotlight in the fashion fantastical world.
So, next time before telling everyone how much you like The Devil Wears Prada, make sure you do understand that fashion is not just about melodrama, more so, a multi-billion industry. Truth is: turning every single page of Vogue, beside each piece of garment and accessory, there comes a hidden marketing strategy for advertisement. The older I get, the more I realize that everyone needs to read a magazine that actually suits one’s age and income level. Don’t go cry like a baby when you flip through Vogue and find out you can’t even afford the Louis Vuitton’s key-ring in store. Don’t hurt yourself. Understand what you want and pick the right magazine to become a faithful reader on a regular basis! That’s the healthiest habit I can ever suggest. Reading a good magazine brings a lot of benefits! Food for thought. What’s your favorite?
Wintour - “People constantly make the mistake of comparing London with New York, Milan and Paris and that’s not what it’s about. London has its own fashion identity. You come here to find the next Alexander McQueen or John Galliano.”
Fashion journalism is legit, after all.

Love Real Simple. They have little of everything and great ideas for make-up, fashion, for all ages.

Allure & Essence. Great commentary Alice S.!!! I stopped reading Vogue several years ago because I couldn't stomach the elitist spirit that runs rampant thru its pages. None of the articles I could relate to and those that I could were very rare. I'll stick with my Allure & Essence....plus a dozen other titles to keep me entertained. :)
