any suggestions for what you think is the best eyelash curler? my lashes just dont like to be curled, but my theory is that i dont have the right eyelash curler. i live off falsies but sometimes, ill get on the lazy side and not want to apply them lol I curl my lashes a couple times and after the first coat of mascara, they shoot back down. help!

The Sephora brand eyelash curler is pretty awesome. It really lets me get a good curl and my lashes manage to stay up all day. I've been hearing a lot of amazing things about the Shu Umera lash curler also.

The shu umera is my fave! I've been using that one for years! A little trick I always do is warm your eyelash curler with a blow dryer. Just warm enough to the touch, but not to burn your eyes lol. That always help hold my eyelashes. :)

I have super stubborn lashes and I had the hardest time with the whole process. I recently bought the elf mini eyelash curler. I use this first to get a little bit of curl (because i curl little by little and this also gets the inner and outer parts easily) and then I use my Revlon eyelash curler to curl all my lashes and by doing those two steps, I get a really nice curl.
Finding the right mascara that works for you is important too. I ALWAYS use waterproof because the formula is lighter. If I don't, then my eyelashes go straight back down and all that work was for nothing!
I think getting a good eyelash curler is important but finding the right technique with curling your eyelashes is just as important too. Hope this helps :)

I had the same problem but I switched to a Shu Uemura curler & It works great. Also like Megan said warming it before curling helps. :) (My mom taught me that trick ) It's like a curling iron for your lashes.

My shu uemura curler is my favorite! I used to think curlers were all the same and never invested in one but after I tried the shu uemura one I was in love haha.
But they don't sell them in the US anymore, although I think you can order them online. So I asked the sales lady at Ulta if she could pick another good one for me and she recommended me the tarte one, which is also pretty good at giving a nice soft curl and it's around 15$ I think.
Oh and like Korie S. said, always go for waterproof formulas. They tend to be drier than regular formulas so they hold curl a lot better. I don't know what kind of mascara you like but I really like the CG LashBlast cause it holds curl really well for me!

Do some research on the shape of the curve of the lash curler, it has a lot to do with how well it curls your lashes. You want a curler that fits best to the curve of your eyelid.
Comparing them in Sephora is a good option.. then you can see the differences side to side. :]

I *heart* my Shu so much, I have it in both the reg. silver one, and the 24k one as a backup if EVER [knocks on wood] I lose it - or god forbid, it gives out on me. I don't care what they say about replacing that pad every 3 mos: mine's on it's 5th year and still going strong!

*points to Tamara's post*
As for me, I just bought one of the Revlon ones today (the silver one; it's about $3) and I already love it! Before that, I had a small wet'n'wild one, but it wasn't doing the job (it wasn't curved enough). I also have a purple plastic on that is no longer made that, while it was curved enough, wasn't wide enough for my eyes. Now I have one that works excellent for me. :)
@Soma: I've been wondering about the pads! I've had my purple lash curler for quite a few years, same pad.

They say you should replace it every 3 mos or so, but I'm still on my original pad and have yet to use my replacement. It all depends on how heavy of a hand you use when squeezing, and I try not to be so rough with my lashes, since it can stress my lashes and result in fall-out. =)

I have straight lashes that are stubborn and that don't like to curl at all. The only things that worked for me are the Shu Eumura curler but mine died on me so I went and picked up the Shiseido one which I currently LOVE. Then my go to mascara is CG Waterproof Lashblast. It never fails me to holding the curl.

I concur with my cousin above :). The Shu Uemura eyelash curler is my HG curler, but recently switched to the Shiseido curler since my Shu died on me. The Shiseido works pretty well but does not give me the amazing lasting curl that the Shu provides. Overall still a pretty good curler. I have also used the ELF curler which does an OK job at curling but does not give me a great of a curl than the Shiseido or even the Shu.
But you should take a closer look at the curvature of your eyes. If your eyes are a flatter rounded shape, the Shu would work perfectly. If your eyes are more of a rounded shape, the Shiseido & ELF would work great. . If you are investing in a good quality eyelash curler, I would suggest the Shu Uemura (online orders only) or the Shiseido (Sephora or Department stores).
Though the ELF curler is much more affordable - you can never tell when it would die on you... Mine died after a month of having it.
Another tip would be picking a mascara with a lighter formula. I found that the waterproof formulas work the best of holding the curl with the least amount of coats. If you put coats & coats of mascara, 9 out 10- your mascara formula is a bit heavy.
Hope that helped! :)

I bought Shu Uemura last year and I've never looked back. I would say my eye shape is wider set and my lashes are pretty stubborn for what they are... but I'm extremely satisfied with my Shu-Shu! Because it's a wider rim and allows for a stronger curl!
Blow drying for 10 seconds or starting with a waterproof mascara will help hold.

If you have really stubborn eyelashes as I do you can try using a heated eyelash curler ...its takes a little longer to curl but it's worth the extra 30 secs definitely holds the curl longer and curls more naturally.

My favorite is the Shu Uemura but I've heard so many great things about the NARS eyelash curler as well. I think it would depend on your eye shape as well.

try the elf eyelash curler :) i have had three of them and absolutely love them, they are the only eyelash curler i use, after you curl them your lashes wont go anywhere for the rest of the day and its only a dollar at target :)
