I currently live in an apartment and the sink area is dreadfully small; I have no space to do my makeup. It is an apartment for college so I will just have to deal with it for now. My question is what is your ideal makeup station ie how is it lit, and which room is it in, can you sit to do your makeup or do you prefer to stand?

I do my makeup in my bedroom by a window. Said makeup is kept in a dresser drawer (and on top of it). I wish I had a stool and a better mirror, though.

I have my makeup desk set up in my bedroom in a corner by a window. With the help of my partner who is a sparky (electrician) I bought a fluro light and he attached it to the top of my desk which i got from 3 house up th road who where cleaning out there garage. The had a sign on it 'FREE". It was a set of drawers with a large mirror on top. All i could see was a makeup desk :) I took the drawers out, use a small saw, cut the wood out that the draws sat on. gave it a sweep and wipe over to remove dust, spiders, old webs and anything else that was still living on it. I used spray paint to paint it purple and red. I used to old cupboard shelves as a desk top (the original top had water damage) now i store all my makeup on top neatly leaving me enough space to set up and film my tutorials :) I always do my makeup and hair in my room. the bathroom isn't comfortable enough, i can sit down in my room :P

I feel your pain. My bathroom sink area was way to small for doing my makeup. Plus... I hated the idea of storing my makeup in a bathroom. It is not sanitary. I bought the greatest set up for my bedroom. I have been in need of a desk to do my school work and an area for my makeup. I had a small vanity but it was too small for studying at I had no space left for my makeup. I went to Ikea and roamed around and found that I could add a desk to my shelving (that I already owned). Here is 1 photo of what I did (this was the day that I finished... there is so much more on there now). Also check out my blog post of all the pictures (before and after).

@Shouri... I actually have had that for a few years. I think that I bought it at Staples. And thank you. I love my set up. It is perfect for me.

Hey Rachael, what type of mirror are you using on your desk? It looks pretty handy :)

@Arianna... It is the Jerdon JGL9W 5X Magnification Tri-fold Lighted Mirror. Here is a link to it on amazon.

You can also look at garage sales. I got a desk forever ago that I saw at someones garage sale and it works great as a vanity. It was only around $30. It takes a bit more effort but I think it's worth it just to save money (money you can spend on more makeup =])
