Sources of inspiration

Hi everyone! I was curious where do you guys look for inspiration for creating tutorials or just topics to talk about. It's been a while since i've tapped into my creative side since i was little and I'm happy that youtube and beautylish has given me the opportunity to do so again! Hope you all are doing well =)

I used to do the YT thing, and simply ran out of time, but I started with things I wore everyday...it took me ten years to perfect natural make up so I thought I'd share the benefit of my trial and error learned ways! Then I thought 'seasonal' and also a good tip is look at your favourite products, what can you rely on them to do for you and take it from there. Who inspires you musically or historically? If they came to your room for a sleepover and you did hteir makeup what would you do for them? How would you look in your best light? Look at fashions and trends and adapt them to you. Good luck!

Thank you so much Claire! This was awesome advice! I really like how I can look at it from different perspectives like the one that you mentioned about the sleepovers, I think that will help a lot! =) thanks!

You're welcome, but do watch lanaindianas tips for youtube first...good ones about use a PO Box and disguise your name, just to protect your anonymity, other than that go for it! I wish you luck :)

I use tumblr a lot as inspiration for makeup/hair/food/etc. Its a great place for images just to keep your creative juices flowing ESPECIALLY if you follow blogs that are picture heavy. I also try to keep up on current ads for makeup/beauty because most are editorial/avante garde and can be interpreted in so many different ways. Another resource is pop culture including movies, music videos, and trends. These are all great ways to get your head working for inspiration!

I love doing makeup that is inspired by my interests or friends interests for example my boyfriend is super into video games and such, so I would challenge myself to come up with looks inspired by his game of the moment. I can either go really literal or just pull a little from the game (video games is one of my favorite places to grab inspiration). I am also an avid climber, so if I see a pretty flower when I am out climbing with an interesting shape or color sometimes I am inspired by that. I like to look at random things and try to figure out how I could translate it to makeup, and I try to keep up to date on all the tips and tricks the gurus and magazines give me to actually make my vision come to fruition.

Thank you Jasmine and Rachel! I can't wait to get my creative side going again! I miss it =) All really great advice! I'll look into tumblr, i'm really new to it but it sounds really cool!

I tend to mangle my magazines by tearing out images that inspire.. whether directly through the makeup, or colour palettes. I keep them in a folder that I periodically flip through. :]
