I hate wearing foundation, i just dont like the feel of it on my skin. but i have to wear it as i have quite noticeable acne scarring and acne :( At the moment im using revlon colourstay, its great coverage and all, but its so heavy. Are there any lightweight/nice feeling drugstore foundations out there, but that still have good/full coverage?
Help :)

I have the same exact issue also! Acne prone skin and I need a foundation that has full coverage. I'm also currently using Revlon Colorstay and I agree it's extremely thick. I have the Maybelline Superstay foundation and that has amazing coverage also. When using that foundation I like to just apply a thin layer and just go back with concealer to cover any imperfections.

I've been dealing with acne for 10+ years now so believe when I say I've tried it ALLLL. Have you experimented with using less foundation and then using a q-tip or brush to cover spots and blemishes with concealer? That's always worked for me. Just make sure you get a concealer that really matches your skintone. Mac has a great one- and with all the money you'll be saving on using less foundation- it'd be worth the price.

I have acne and a lot of scarring :(. How do you apply your foundation? A brush? Sponge? Your hands?

I noticed that with liquid foundation, if you use a "wet" applicator the foundation doesn't go on "heavy," but there is still a good amount of coverage. Example the beauty blender sponge, users usually wet it prior to application of the foundation. What I do is wash my flat foundation brush with brush cleaner prior to each use, then apply my L'oreal foundation.

I put concealer prior to my foundation with my fingers, or with a concealer brush. Then apply foundation to my face. Then set with a Maybelline powder.

My redness, pores, uneven skin tone and pimples are covers up nicely.

The only thing is my scars still shows through all the make up =[

One more thing, just like a poster Mandy mentioned, there is a mineral make up line that is online called Meow Cosmetics. According to her, after using it her skin stopped getting break outs.

On that note, I went to the site to purchase some samples. There are some samples of the powder, concealor, bronzer, primer, setting powder all for $1.00 each. The color choices can be overwheling because there is a lot of it, but that's why it's good to purchase samples before buying a big container of it.

They have three types if foundation from little, medium, to a more fuller coverage. They say mineral is better for problematic skin, so our skin can breath under the make up.

And if you sign up for their newsletter, they give you a code for 10% off. The only thing is you need to purchase more than $10 worth of products. So what I did was purchase a bunch of samples of foundation, concealed, primer, and finishing powder. And a bunch of little containers and sifters for $0.75 each.

Maybe invest in a good concealer that matches your skin and use that for your spots!

I always put my concealer on after my foundation because I usually use a brush to apply the foundation. The sweeping on of the foundation always takes the concealer off (since that area is usually raised from the blemish) so I end up having to reapply it. My method of application really changes depending on the product I'm using- just remember to clean your brushes, sponges, or wash your hands so you're not introducing even more bacteria to your skin. SUPER important step that everyone skips!

If you want to cover acne scars you're going to have 1. fade the scars by lightening your skin with a product that contains hydroquinone or some other lightening agent or 2. wear more/a heavier foundation to cover the spots. I'm using Murad's "age spot" lightening for my acne scars/hyperpigmentation and it's working great. Make sure you're exfoliating too. I really like Philosophy Miracle Worker AM which contains glycolic acid.

aww thank you, this was all very helpful.
To Jane A, i use a stippling brush or foundation brush, depending on my mood and the occasion. I find the stippling brush to give better coverage, but its cakier, so i tend to only use it for events where i want my skin to look extra good.
To Linda, what is the consistency of the maybelline foundation like> is it still very thick? I also use concealer on active pinples, but i have too much hyperpigmentation to use concealer on all of it :(
Angela, ive been using bio-oil for upwards of 3 months, but it hasn't had a huge effect as of yet. I also kind of want to avoid using hydroquinone products as ive heard of some scary side effects. I might just be one of those people that has to let nature run its course :/
Thank you all so much! Ye're great!

PURE MINERAL POWDER!! It's amazing :) you won't even believe your eyes. No liquid, just powder for a beautiful airbrushed finish :) I have sensitive acne prone skin and it works like nothing else I've ever tried!!

Don't wear foundation! It's bad for acne! Try bb cream or cc cream as a substitute! Hope this helps! Lots of love, Carabelle.

Here's what I do
Steps-
1. Make sure you have washed your face then moisturizer
2. Prime your face with the Porefessionals primer it will help get rid of some redness and mattify your face.
3. You may want to spend some money for a nice concealer
4. Only conceal troubled areas
4. Then set everything with a powder for extra coverage set with a tinted pressed powder
