I have two options on where to work out; a park where a lot of models/actors go to exercise or the gym by my place which is the gym that Justin Timberlake and Meghan Fox go to, among other celebs. I always feel so scruffy around these gorgeous people when I am running; any tips on how to look good while I am working out with out looking like I prepared to run into JT on a run?

Ack!! No offense to Andrew B. at all, but I'd rather look like a hot mess during a run than spray my face with hairspray!! Don't worry, girl- they're just people too.. they'd probably be more intrigued by someone who isn't trying to put on heirs around them anyways ; P

@Andrew I've heard of that; I heard it makes makeup stay on really well. I think I heard Courtney Love talking about it; I love her.

@Angela You're probably right; I just feel like I look worse than most people when I exercise because my hair is in frizz puff ponytail and I have a tendency to get a VERY red face even after 5 minutes of running. People always ask me if I'm okay or if I'm overheating, but that's just what always happens, even when I dance around the house. It's so embarrassing because everyone else here as perfect genes!

OH GIRL, you are not alone. I sweat like nobody's business. I've had girls look at me (over their magazines of course-as they pretend to workout) like I'm some swamp beast, breathing all crazy and barely able to stand after a run, like why are you soaking wet? Well, that's just what happens when you push yourself... so just be proud of taking good care of yourself!! : )

What about a little waterproof mascara, highlighter under the brow and tinted lip moisturizer. This would give you a bit of glam while letting your facial skin breathe. I wipe my sweat off with Yes To Blueberry Towelettes, they leave me glowing.  xoxo

@Angela so good to see I'm not alone! Working out is embarrassing!

@Nancy good idea; I think I might add a tinted lip balm with spf since I run outside.

Hi Jamie! Usually I'm an advocate of the bare-face when heading to the gym, but I love Nancy-Lee's suggestions. I would stick to just waterproof mascara—you don't need any color on your skin since you're creating it naturally :)

I'm a fitness instructor and find that I want to make sure I at least have my eyes done whenever I teach even though I'm a super-soaker. I use the Mary Kay eye primer and a waterproof mascara so my color stays. For the rest of my face, I use a tinted moisturizer and a light dusting of powder. If I remember, I'll also use a little lip gloss. At the end of my classes, my eyes are still good and even though I sweat & wipe most of the moisturizer from my face, I end up with a pretty healthy-looking glow!  :)

@Victoria I create so much color my face is beet red! People think I'm dying lol.

@Elizabeth That's awesome to see that that works for you; I like seeing that something works in practice.

My favorite hairstyle for a workout is a ballerina bun on the top of my head. I got the idea from Fitness magazine. Tie your hair in a really high pony and braid it. Wrap the braid in a circle (just make it look like a bun) and then use a ton of bobby pins to hold it in place. Your hair will not get frizzy and it will stay out of your face while working out. The look is pretty cute-- its a lot cuter than frizz or sweaty ends. And if you put it up high enough it won't fall out while running or biking or even jumping rope!

I get really flushed at the gym too. I don't really care though. Sometimes on hot days I'll bring a towel and cool water and blot my face with the cool water. It feels good and at least makes me feel less red. I also avoid wearing blue or green workout clothes because these colors make the red stand out more.

Good luck!!

Honestly, I usually have a neutral eyeshadow on my lids but I don't put any other makeup on my face. That way while you're sweating you at least have a little something going on. I usually don't mind sweating, though! A lot of guys find it attractive to see you actually working out instead of prancing around being cute! Your beauty will shine through the sweat!! :-)
