I have lots of different size brushes, depending on the look I want to do. If you're looking for affordable brushes, ELF has some good ones, and Eco tools are great. Those are my go to brushes. If you're looking to spend a little more, theres always MAC. I've heard nothing but good things about them.

I agree it really depends on what look you are going for. The 2 basic brushes you will need are a flat fluffy brush to pack the color on your lid and a blending brush for your crease. MAC has great brushes but can be a little expensive. You can try Sigma (Online) or Sonia Kashuk (Target).

For the basics: a stiff, flat shader brush and a round, fluffy crease brush. Target has a Studio Tools line of brushes that offer great eye brushes. No shedding or bleeding. Some of their face brushes shed badly though. ELF also has a famous flat shader brush and Sigma offers nice high-end brushes. Hope this helps!

The best eye shadow brushes I have tried are:
Loew Cornell's 3/8 maxene's mop - to apply color on the lids
Crown's Tapered Blending brush - to apply color on the crease
MAC 217 - to blend :)

I love ELF's eyeshadow brush, but I really want a tapered blending brush from Sigma. Coastal scents has good ones too but I've never used them!
