Which do you guys prefer, tutorials with the person describing the steps and products, or ones with music and captions describing the steps? I am in the process of re-evaluating the way I do my videos and can't decide which would be better...also, because finding the right music that isn't copyrighted is freakin' hard :P

I'm a horrible rambler too!! I'm practicing on cutting the ramble down, but still bringing out my personality.

I personally like it when the person I'm watching is talking to me. It's more fun that way!

I love it when people are talking and going through it step by step. Music sometimes throws me off.

Rambler here as well but the thing to consider with music is copyright infringement which can get you kicked off of Youtube.

a lil of both like a good balance

I prefer just music, and perhaps important explanation in text at the bottom. I tend to skip through the talking and fast forward everything to see the makeup application. But an exception for those who can keep the talking short, sweet and to the point. :)

vivan- that's kind of what i do too, fast forward through all the rambling just to get to the good part! but i agree, if the talking is short and simple i dont mind; plus sometimes the music choice is bad :P
thanks to everyone who answered! :)

If it is a review or swatches I prefer music. If it is a tutorial i like when the person is focused and not all over the place with the talking.

i do both. i mix it up. if its a video where its easy to follow allow i wont talk but if i feel like talking or theres a little more steps i will talk (: come check out my beauty channel if you have time! http://www.youtube.com/jaclynsmyname

It really doesn't matter to me.
I'm hard of hearing so a lot of people will just sound like fskdjfkdjf to me while others, I can understand what they're saying.

What I do really depends on my mood and where I am. Since I'm about to move filming to the front door since there's better lighting, I'm probably gonna just be doing music mostly since other people will be in the living room. But that's okay since you really don't need hearing to be able to know what's going on. Plus "your voice is annoying/did you get botox/why do you talk like that" comments get really annoying.

I like them talking and describing everything, it's much easier to undestand.

I ramble and talk thru mine lol but id prefer someone talking and explaining what they're doing, to me thats what a tutorial is for. I dont like when ppl RUSH thru things. I think a picture in the beginning to see what the look is gonna be and getting to the point is great.

I like voice overs with a little background music.
