Sorry if this has been asked already. I've got combination skin, formerly acne prone. Can get very dry in the winter, but will always have an oil slick on my nose (and blackheads).
I've used cetaphil and many other popular facial washes, and my clarisonic (which I definitely recommend).
What do you use?

Dermalogica Ultra Calming face wash along with their moisturizer face scrub toner gel mask and makeup remover it works great on my skin. I also love using BBW C.O Bigelow Brown Sugar Face Polish

Hi Diana, I'm actually currently using the Ultra Calming face wash. I don't feel like it leaves my skin very clean though. Maybe should try the extra products you mention.

I have combination skin and sometimes can be really sensitive since I scrub certain areas on an almost daily basis, I would recommend trying the Dermal Clay Cleanser it works great too

I'm butting in here to ask if you think the Clarisonic is worth the money?

I love the feeling that I get after the Clarisonic. I don't know if it's important to get your face as clean as these get it, but it's like a little massage for my face- feels great. I don't have real wrinkles yet, so I can't tell if it helps on that side, but I hope it's preventing them. Also, it is one of the things that helps keep my pores clean- certainly not an effective blackhead solution by itself, but it seems to help.

I'm really considering buying it, but I have my doubts that I'll actually use it. I tend to just revert back to using my hands, water and whatever cleanser I am using when I buy gadgets like this xD!

I'm currently using Bare Escentuals RareMinerals™ Renew & Reveal Facial Cleanser - 2.5 oz (Sephora Item # 1055755). After having my twin sons my skin went from clear and "white" to really red and blotchy. I used normal facial scrubs for years which just made my skin worse over time. For over a month now I've been using the Bare Escentuals product and have seen a dramatic improvement over the last few weeks.

I use the Philosophy Simply pure cleanser or something like that, actually my whole face care system is from their range. I bought the joy of great skin but unless it's absolutely marvelous and makes my skin amazing at the end of my month test, I'll probably only repurchase the cleanser

You know, Ava P, Garance Dore, my favorite fashion blogger uses dove too. Maybe I'll try that. Would make life very easy :)

Hi Julia! I have combination skin where it's dry everywhere on my face except my very-blackhead-infested nose and chin. I've been using:
1) Yes to Carrots Eye and Face Makeup Remover: http://www.beautylish.com/p/yes-to-carrots-eye-and-face-makeup-remover
2) Origins A Perfect World: http://www.beautylish.com/p/origins-a-perfect-world-deep-cleanser-with-white-tea
3) Sephora Precision Pore Cleansing Pad:
http://www.beautylish.com/p/sephora-collection-precision-pore-cleansing-pad
4) Good ol' baby shampoo to wash my face once a week. My dermatologist recommended it to me when I had really bad acne and it did wonders!
5) Shiseido White Lucent Brightening Cleansing Foam:

Good luck!

I'm totally intrigued by the baby shampoo - did she say why it was good for bad acne?

I have oily, acne prone skin with a lot of blackheads
in the past years i have tried a host of products: clean and clear, loreal, neutrogena, etc
They have fair to moderate success. my break outs would clear up for some time then return, especially around my periods.
Due to my concerns about the ingredients used in conventional products [parabens, alcohol, etc] i've recently started using an all natural skin care line: Dr Hauschka
as well as other homemade remedies such as
witch hazel as a toner and makeup remover
olive oil - an excellent makeup remover
olive oil + herbal tea bag contents/ brown sugar is a great face scrub
Honey can be used as a cleanser
I am still awaiting major changes but i feel better knowing that what im using on my skin is all natural!

Everyone is intrigued by the baby shampoo! I'm interested in trying that out too. Btw Christina, how do you decide which of your cleansers to use on what night or do you just rotate?

I have combination skin as well (mostly oily on my t-zone) and the latest gem that I found was "Yes to Tomatoes." Now, with my skin I broke out sporadically and after using "Yes to Tomatoes" it helped me out SO much! The thing is, I read that you shouldn't cleanse your face in the morning after all the cleansing and moisturizing you do at night, so lately I've been following that rule and I have yet to break out! So all I do in the morning is wash my face with warm water and moisturize, then I'm ready to go.
Try "Yes to Tomatoes" and hopefully it will definitely do the same.
Ps. I'm TOTALLY intrigued by the baby shampoo trick, Christina!

About the not washing your face in the morning - I take it this is for dry/combination skin. My oily skin really needs a wash in the morning as I wake up with a bit of grease on my face!

Everyone should wash their face in the morning REGARDLESS if it's oily, dry or combo skin even if it's just water. To me not washing your face daily is like not brushing your teeth on a daily basis, using deodorant or brushing your hair. It has to be part of your routine.
Best thing to do, in my opinion, is to buy a facial brush - any where from $1 at the dollar store to $30 at a high end store - and use it with a facial cleanser of your choice. Moisturize your face after washing it, especially if you have dry skin, with one meant for your skin type.
I absolutely disagree with "I read that you shouldn't cleanse your face in the morning after all the cleansing and moisturizing you do at night". If you cleanse and moisturize at night then the morning routine because most people sleep from six to ten hours a night and the face rubs on a pillow, sheets or blankets in that time so it's beneficial, in my opinion, to wash the face (even if it's with water and washcloth) and moisturize (especially in the winter).

I have skin so oily that late in the day, if I wipe my fingers on my face it feels like I'm scraping lard off of it. I used to have really bad acne, and now it's there but it's A LOT better. I know not everyone can afford it, but I use Skin ID, I think it works for me because it's personalized so much. I tried ProActive and that didn't work for me at all, and if proactive does work for you, you may as well buy the offbrand stuff at the drugstore that's the EXACT same thing for cheaper.
Anyway when I'm not using that I wash my face at night normally with an oatmeal bar soap. Oatmeal is really good for your skin. Face masks with natural ingredients are also really good for oily skin.

Hi ladies!
I'm not sure why the baby shampoo works (dermatologist suggested it and I didn't question it)! For me, it's super gentle on my skin and doesn't feel harsh. A friend of mine was also suggested baby shampoo for her bad acne. It's the one product I always bring with me when I travel too since I can wash my hair, body, and makeup brushes too. You can always buy the $1 baby shampoo in the travel section of your local drugstore to try it out yourself ;)
@Julia K - I only wash my face at night actually. I usually use extra virgin olive oil all over my face to break down all the makeup first and then one of the cleansers. There's no reason for which one I use, I just rotate them every few days :) Every couple of days I also exfoliate my skin with Origins Modern Friction: http://www.beautylish.com/p/origins-modern-friction I love using the Sephora cleansing pad...it's uber gentle and gets into all the nooks and crannies of my face!
In the morning, I saturate a cotton pad with toner, either the Clarins Toning Lotion http://www.beautylish.com/p/clarins-toning-lotion or Lush Eau Roma Water http://www.lushusa.com/shop/products/face/toners-toner-tabs/eau-roma-water and wipe my face down with it. Sometimes I just soak my face towel with warm water and let it sit on my face for a few seconds.
Hope this helps ;)
