I'm doing a project on MAC cosmetics for school and since this is Brand/Product related, I think it would be al-right to ask here.

For the people who love MAC, what are the things you love about the products? Any features?

I don't have a ton of MAC products but my favourite items are their lipsticks, they super creamy, and moisturising and some gorgeous colours.

I've tried pretty much everything MAC has to offer, eyeshadows, lip glosses, blushes, brushes, etc...
I think my favourite things from MAC has to be their foundations and lip sticks.
No matter what foundation I buy from MAC I will get amazing coverage, and it makes my skin look great. One thing that people always say about MAC is their very wide variety of colours, whether it be eyeshadows, blushes, lipsticks or lip glosses. & that's also what I love, and why I return to MAC. If there is a certain colour eyeshadow that I want and I don't want to spend a ton of money on it, then most likely I'm heading to my closest MAC counter. Not always will you get the best colour pay-off from their shadows... but sometimes you'll grab a few eyeshadows that are very pigmented... but that's like any company. But I have to agree with Angie.. their lipsticks are one of my favourites, they are very pigmented and they have a ton of colours to pick from which is another plus.

I agree with Andrew...Back 2 MAC is how I got a lot of my lipsticks, but I wouldn't go as far as saying MAC is a "green" company for various reasons.

yes, but once again to a point.. before Estee Lauder bought them they were 100% cruelty free, now there is a lot of controversy about that situation regarding 3rd party animal testing. & I don't think there is anything "green" about hurting an animal.

Oh boy...I've been a mac user since 1996 and I was once addicted. I have almost everything you can think of. Is my addiction for MAC as strong as it once was? No it isn't.

What I love:
- Great variety of colors and formulations to choose from (shadows, lipsticks etc)
- Variety of foundation formulas to choose from
- Their Viva Glam program
- Back2MAC
- Kids helping kids
- I love their pro stores / products
- Their moto: "all ages, all races, all sexes" <--- I love that!

The not so good:
- They release collections back 2 back 2 back. Can't keep up and a lot of their releases constists of repromotes - no fun
- Mascara's are not good IMO
- Quality compared to then and now is lacking.
- Sales associates, eh I haven't had the best experience w/. I understand they are encouraged to sell but there's a way to do. I was a retail sales associate myself.

MAC was my first high-end love back when I was in high school (over a decade ago ... now I feel old!) because the color assortment and performance of their eye, lip and face products were dazzling. I love that they give back and support some really fabulous causes--AIDS efforts, kids, etc.

Things have changed a great deal though and I've found that sometimes the product performance is touch and go. I'm also not a fan of the constant release of limited edition collections. I can understand doing them throughout the year, but having multiple ones released every month, at the same time (many which include re-promotes) just seems like over-kill to me. It's taken some of the "specialness" away and I find myself purchasing from them less now than I once did. They still hold a special place in my heart as my first real makeup brand addiction, but I do not rush to the store or online every time a new collection or product is released. I keep track of what they put out, but buy less and less. I'm hopeful that since I'm not the only one that seems to feel this way that perhaps they'll catch on and re-focus on quality, not quantity. Time will tell!

I feel like there is something for everyone, whether your taste is minimal, over the top, subtle, dramatic, neutral or bold.

While the sheer amount of product can be overwhelming, I think just about anyone can find at least one item they'll fall in love with.
