I'm very desperate to clear up my acne before school starts up again and I just kinda started to use oatmeal to wash my face. I"m wondering has any of y'all with acne tried it and it cleared up the acne?

I have used oatmeal/honey/milk masks before to soften and exfoliate my skin. I'm not sure how oatmeal will work to clear up acne, but I just searched it on the web and it seems to have some fans as a cure. This is a good how-to page.

I think you should use the oatmeal as a mask/scrub maybe twice a week, and wash your face morning and night with something like the Neutrogena Acne Prone Facial Bar. The bar is gentle and leaves no residue, so your skin wont become irritated, and topical acne products will be able to penetrate your skin more readily. Also, make sure you moisturize after washing your face with something like the Neutrogena Oil Free Moisture SPF 15 to help your skin stay moisturized (even if you have oily skin!) For an acne product, i suggest using a salicylic acid spot treatment (you can find one at the drugstore, just look on the back at the active ingredients). Apply the product on and around the problem areas after you wash and moisturize your face.
The key to treating acne is making sure you wash your face EVERY morning and night, using products that will soothe the skin, rather than irritate and inflame it, and keeping it properly moisturized. Also, make sure you don't touch your face a lot, and try not to pop any zits. Popping them can push bacteria and pus deep into the skin in addition to out, which can cause scarring, further infection, and consequently more acne. Try to stay on a regular sleep schedule too, and keep stress to a minimum. When I don't get enough sleep or I am stressing for an exam, I break out (just had an organic chemistry final yesterday! face isn't so good right now D; )
So anyways, acne is a huge PAIN and struggle. My acne has not been cured, but I have found a way to manage it. Good luck to you!

I've tried it before but it didn't do much to my acne coz it was hormonal. Perhaps you could try seeing a derm instead?

i recently started using oatmeal as a cleanser for my skin because of the fact that i had an allergic reaction. and i came across bubzbeauty's video on how she had an allergic reaction on her face and used oatmeal as a cleanser so i decided, hey why not? i didnt want to use my regular cleanser because i didnt want to put anything harsh on my skin, i didnt even wear makeup. i wanted my skin to be able to breathe and heal. and since this was just 100% oatmeal it wasnt going to be bad for my skin. i dont know about acne but it does wonders for me skin since i broke out in an allergic reaction. my skin was dry, itchy, inflamed, it sucked so bad... and now after cleansing my face a few times with oatmeal my skin has definitely started to repair itself and it has gotten softer and i feel like it brightened my skin as well. i love using oatmeal as a cleanser so im going to continue to use it on a daily basis.
