Messy Bun/Pony Tail.

I know it sounds silly but could anyone explain how to create a good messy pony tail? I'm good at making the bun look messy but I've tried tieing my hair up upside down and pulling it loose and things and then it just feels too loose and stuff:-/ aha. if anyone has any good tips or tricks I'd really appriecate it. pictures would be cool too.

I use to have that problem till I work out throwing your hair down you cover your partin instead take your hair from the side quite high up then lose bobble so you can tighten which will make it messy :) hope I helped :)

Flip your head upside down. Spray your hair lightly and then back comb it a little bit. That stops it being too slippery and from going too loose. Then put your bobble in but don't do it perfectly. Kind of screw your hair up and put the bobble in. Turn your head back the right way up and pull it tighter and pull bits out and stuff. Back comb the bits that are hanging loose again and spray again :)

Back combing or 'teasing' will break your hair follicle because your brushing the wrong way therefore also damaging it. Messy buns and ponys don't usually work well with thin hair and more with thick or medium thick hair. Use a tight elastic, the small plastic ones sold in a small package of 100 will work and twist your hair and wrap it around the base carelessly around where the twist starts and tie it two times. Do this without looking in the mirror.

Back combing is damaging but if you use a back combing brush and be gentle with it it won't be so bad especially if its only once in a while. Using tight elastics is just as damaging, so I'd say go for either, but if you're worried about damaging your hair don't do either. The damage won't be noticeable though unless you do it all of the time and are too rough with it (back combing too rough or pulling the elastic out of the tangled bun)
