I Have white converse and there looking a bit grubby so would like to wash them. People have suggested putting them in the washing machine, do I put any if the powder or the washing liquid in with it?

I wouldn't put them in the wash as the rubber goes funny and the canvas goes a funny colour. If its the canvas that is dirty then scrub with soap and a stiff brush, and if its the rubber that is dirty then use like Jif or a cream household cleaner with a cloth :)

Don't wash them in the washing machine!! They will totally fall apart and get all weird and stinky. You will just have to hand wash them with soap and water and a sponge. (Or just rock them a little dirty. I love how old converse look with nice skinny jeans and a dressy top.)

I use bleach on a cloth on the rubber and then scrub it with a brush, and then a wet cloth with water to get the bleach out. And for the other part, just soap and water on a cloth or brush.

I'm a hardcore collector of chucks...25 to date. Heck to no you better not but them in the washer or add bleach! I spot clean mine with a little bit of All liquid detergent fragrance and scent free mixed with water and use a sponge and an old tooth brush. I've only owned one white pair and tossed after one season because out of all the colors that was the one that turned gross super quick.

Magic eraser, works perfectly.

I second the magic eraser for the rubber parts. I use to always wash my chucks in the washer but NEVER with bleach. And only cold water. Toss em in one of those mesh laundry bags so they stay together and don't get all mangled!
