I'm about to do a hair mask but I can't decide which is best for my scalp and hair. The olive or coconut oil? My scalp stays dried out so yeah ugh have flakes galore, honestly wish I could figure out how to get rid of this!

Coconut might be better scent-wise. I like olive oil on food, not so sure how I feel about smelling it in my hair lol

Coconut oil definitely, I use it 2-3 times a week its great for the scalp, I had the same problem with flakes and once I started using coconut oil I noticed the difference real fast :)

Coconut for more fine hair. olive oil is better for thicker. alternate in between oils every so often so your hair doesn't get used to it.

I mix coconut, jojoba, black castor (I wouldn't recommend it for you if you've got fine hair as its super thick), grapeseed oil, jojoba oil, and tea tree oil. I use it to seal my hair though so it doesn't get washed it. My hair has been growing great and healthy because of the mix though.

I use a mixture of both, 2 parts coconut oil to one part olive oil. The coconut oil moisturizes scalp and hair while the olive oil conditions. Leave on hair wrapped in a warm towel for a hour or more and when you wash it out make sure you shampoo and create a good lather before getting your hair wet.

P.s I personally find that once you wash it out you can't smell either oil.

@Erin M. how long did it take to grow your hair? I've been trying for years and my hair seems stuck in the same length.. my hair is real coarse toward the roots & thinner towards the end.. frustrating! 😖

Okay I know this isnt what you asked, but you should buy some Neutrogena T Gel. It comes in a small box and you can get it at walmart or any pharmacy in the dandruff shampoo section. Buy the one that says its for "Stubborn itch"...even if you don't itch. The thing about it is, this shampoo is for use on people with seborrheic dermatitis or psoriasis, etc...but I swear by this stuff, because last year my scalp was veeerrrry badly dried out and very itchy due to a failed bleaching attempt, and the T Gel is what healed my scalp. It has a TON of menthol in it, which also feels so wonderful on your scalp. You have to massage it in with your finger tips. You will feel it start tingling and getting cool. Leave it in a few minutes, then rinse and repeat. The second time it will get even colder feeling. It will leave your head feeling so much better. It helps get rid of flaky scalp as well. Also the menthol stimulates your hair follicles to grow hair faster. I'm telling you, you should really try it. Its awesome. It smells bad at first but youll get used to the smell. But trust me, the benefits WAYYY outweigh the bad smell! Good luck :) I hope youll do yourself a favor and try it!
